Desperatly need help to stop playing the slots in the bookies literally ruining me!

Constantly reaching these low points when i lose a big chunk of money but never seek help then continue to do it on next pay day. Has anyone got any tips on how to overcome this ashamed to say ive spent about £3500 in the last 8days dont want to know how much this year. Feel sick thinking about it literally getting worse by the week. Has anyone been to counselling sessions?

Very surprised how i am not upto my eye balls in debt! time to move on from this before it gets to that stage. Unable to move forward in my life because im stuck in this limbo land.

Any pointers from anyone in the same boat or has been through it all and saw the light of day would be greatly apreciated thanks.

Help

Hi rokane if you really want to stop you have to put blocks in place. Self exclude, Gamstop, access to money. Can someone look after your money and cards? Find a GA meeting. Call gamcare. Tell a close friend or family member. The only person who can stop this is you.

Hello, sorry for your plight. You can self exclude yourself from bookies, if you did that in your surrounding area then that takes away the immediate temptation. Forget about the money you've spent, that's gone now so you must just look at what you can do to get back on track. My particular vice is online betting and to fix myself I've self excluded for 5 years so that's me sorted, I urge you to do the same, you'll feel better for it. Take care.

Thanks for your comments apreciated, Banned myself from all online betting sites and am about to self exclude myself from all stores in my area! Family are aware now how bad it is and have told me my wages are going to them as of now will see how this goes. Also going to start 1 on 1 sessions through the RCA trust so fingers crossed this is the start of a massive change.

Feeling determined

Hi Rokane
I literally gave the same problem. I'm addicted to roulette in the bookies and online gambling. I tried to stop and did well for around a week but went back on Saturday and lost half my wages trying to chase losses. I have taken out payday loans you name it to try and help me until next day. I have lost around 6k in the past 30 days just gambling. I have now put measure in place to stop me gambling even further. I have got rid of all my cards, self excluded and Gamban. I'm.back on day 2. I wish you the best of luck

Hi steph92

Feel your pain think the only thing i havent yet done is take out any loans only small ones from family to get me by when i lose everything. Time to deal with it now before it ruins me its starting to affect my everyday life and relationships. As of tomorrow i will self exclude myself from all bookies in my area i've dealt with my online accounts already. Its a ridiculous cycle is it lose a massive chunk of money feel low for few days get paid then do it again!

Good luck steph92

Hi Rob

As a parent of a young gambler it has made my day to see you going through all the right steps to sort yourself out. The very best thing you have done is get your family to handle your finances and get them on board to support you. It is important they do not bail you out on any gambling related issues but them knowing everything now will be a deterrent for you to be led astray. You are lucky not to be in debt but should you carry on with gambling they will eventually land on your shoulders. Remember it is not only you affected but your lovely family too. But I think you realise that from reading your posts.

Good luck and happy Gfree future.

hi rob

there is only one way to do this

1. cut up all your cards, take pictures of the front so you can pay money into the bank if needed

2. block all the gambling sites online with gamstop

carry very little money with you and do what i do bank anything i have over £50.00

i also installed betfilter on my pc just incase a few sites are not covered with gamstop

these steps will work and do work

if you need to carry a card, order a new one and scratch of the 3 numbers on the back
