I'm 30 years old, been gambling for 10 years. Last 6 months has been disastrous, I estimate I've lost in the region of £5-6k and got myself into 3k worth of debt including taking out a loan which I subsequently lost. I have left myself in an awful situation and am struggling to see a way out. Why do I keep doing this to myself, it makes no sense. I have a serious problem with FOBT in bookies in particular. Well today I self excluded and installed K9 software on my iPhone. It's a big step for me as something has been stopping me break the habit of a life time, enough is enough I want to rebuild my life. I'm at Day 1 and will write here everyday. My bank account is empty and I feel very low. If anyone wants to exchange regular emails to help each other through this first few weeks I am determined not to relapse again. This disease is ruining me.
Have you tried talking to your doctor also?. I have been given tablets for anxiety which I admit are taking the urges away (so far). I figured why fight this disease when I can maybe be given something to help carry me
Hi I haven't yet been to the doctors but may do so to seek some future advise. Just not sure if tablets will mask things but make things worse in the long run. Got through day 1 with ease, urges usually kick in after a few days. Trying to stay strong.
Hey
if you want to chat please email me on:
i'm new to the forums and have posted on a couple of threads if you want to get a feel for my situation, alternatively i can explain all in email. Similarly to you, i'm just trying to immerse myself in the positivity on here as opposed to getting on my phone and gambling.
Take care

Hi fringe 31
im in a similar position to you and am also desperate to stop.
i have taken out loans and lent money to help my position but ended up losing this money and I am getting more and more desperate. I feel I can no longer talk to my friends or family and I just need someone to chat with
Hi rich47
I know exactly how you feel. Don't keep chasing it only gets worse. I should not be in this position, gambling is so destructive. I'm 4 days gamble free just trying to take it one day at a time, seems to be working. Hope you are doing well. Cheers
