So I managed approx 125 days without gambling and was SO determined and adamant that I would never lapse, but last week turned out to be the most expensive week of my life. For some crazy reason I thought I could have "one go" at my favourite slot game. One week later and my monthly wages are nearly gone within a day of getting paid and I have racked up an additional £1500 of debt on my cards. I already have debts over £20k to God knows how many lenders, and the repayments eat up half of my wages, but now I have nothing to pay them this month. My direct debits are already starting to bounce back and I have 3 weeks before I get paid. I have enough money to eat for the month and that's it. Sickened to my stomach. Do you think it's wise to call all these creditors and explain the situation and see if I can have a months grace?? my credit score is already screwed so I can't see that one month of not paying is going to make much difference. My Christmas is ruined and it's all my own fault. Gutted.

Having worked in a bank before I would suggest calling them. Everytime a direct debit fails a company ( unless you have an arrangement) will call for it again. You could end up with most of your wage covering repeated charges. I would suggest offering g them double payment next month. At least that way they won't run the DD again

Hey,

Very similar story to mine. I constantly lose my wages every month and have done the exact same this month. I've been doing it for the last 7 years without fail and raking up enourmous debts as I went along.

I actually went through a DRO and had my credit destryoed, I am although lucky in the sense that my debts don't total up anymore but I was in that position of around £20,000 in debts. Is a DRO something you could do? or potentially bankruptcy? it really is not as bad as it sounds and a fresh start.

Although the fresh start was a initial 'lets stop now and start fresh' I was unscussfull. I have just gambled £2500 this month, head up. Its hard and tough but lets do it together.

thanks guys. Just rang about 4 of my creditors sounding like a nervous wreck of a woman because I thought they wouldn't care less but they were all very nice. My loan from a well known shop that sells nice food and jumpers has frozen my account for 60 days. I was advised to get in touch with Stepchange by them too. I still have a load of others to contact but I'm working nights tonight so need a few hours sleep. If anything, this has made me more determined to stop forever. I won't let this ruin my Christmas . Take care guys xx

they deal with this every minute of every hour of every day.

They have been nice, but don't forget the mountain you have to climb 🙂 enjoy your christmas and please don't relapse.
