All,

I turned here for help a few years back, and then set up a blog to document my thoughts. Whilst I've kept in contact with some people on here via e-mail, my blog sadly sat idle. However, I noticed that when I was doing my blog I was much less likely to relapse - I guess when you're thinking positively about things rather than focussing on all the negatives? The bills, missed payments etc.

So, I've decided to start it up again. Appreciate your thoughts on the blogs, or if anyone has a similar train of thought - i.e. being busy and thinking positively, however we each do that - is the best way to distract from gambling and possible get over it in the long run?

Hope all's well and there are some success stories out there!!

Kind regards,

AGJ

You have raised an interesting question. I am not a gambler but the parent but both of us have come to this site for advice and support. In my opinion the blogs/posts are very therepeutic and very often the first step to admitting problems and asking for help. Gamblers, or any addicts are maybe afraid to initially talk face-to-face to friends/relations but it is easier to write things down to people they do not know but have a common problem. Having read many blogs on here now from all the sections very often the support people get is amazing and I can see that some people have been talking to each other for ages. Also some people pop in for advice and support, build up their strength to face people at home and then you do not hear from them again. You can only hope they are all ok. Writing things down is the greatest therapy of them all. I hope you are doing well and continue to keep in touch even to let people know now and again how you are. This site has been a godsend for us.

Wish everyone a happpy Xmas at Gamcare.
