Hi everyone

I have been looking on and off of this site for months hoping that reading other people's stories will stop me but I seem to be getting worse.
I'm 36 and have been gambling for over 20 years started with fruit machines then online poker now it's online casinos and real casinos I'm losing hundreds of pounds if not thousands some months it's getting beyond a joke I only last went to casino last night and lost £500 now today I feel so low I then become really distant from my family and feel empty when I don't gamble I really want to stop hopefully with support I will be able to turn my life back around thanks for reading

Hello NBC

You can find something to fill the emptiness while you're not gambling. The thing to do is it ask what positives are you getting whilst not gambling.

I see you've but you really stop that's good but what are you doing to help yourself?

Taking away access to money, telling a someone you trust so they can be your accountablity partner and contacting Gamcare for counselling are all actions you can take straight away to help yourself.

All the best!

Conradnose

Hi Mate,

The gambling consumes us, so relationships, work, everything really plays secodn fiddle to our gambling. Worst of all we are totally in denial of it. At least you are on here so you recognise you have a problem which is a good start. I did similar and got councelling but deep down i did not want to stop gambling completely, I wanted to control it. It was not long befoer I was back on the downward spiral, the I went to GA and I feel like a new man after being over 200 days bet free.

It is not easy and we have to take it one day at a time but you can tame it and take your life back. Now all aspects of my life are well on the mend thanks to the fact I am tackling my gambling problem, you can do the same.

Oh works now thanks both for you reply and support I agree totally Joe I always just try and have a break instead of stopping for good then I slip back down to losing all my money again I have tried to help myself by self excluding online so least I can't play at home it's weird because I normally am good at stopping things I have up smoking and drinking but can't seem to stop gambling it's the hardest one by far.Im going to look at what counselling is avalible you said GA I take it you would recommend them.Like you said I'm taking it one day at a time this Is day 2 and I will update my progress big well done to you Joe for 200 days you should be proud fair play mate thanks again for all your comments and support
