Hi everyone! I've been gambling for a couple of years now and to start with it was fun and I only went on the sites if I had any spare cash.
This all changed the day I won ВЈ500 something in my head told me I could win a lot more than that and before I knew it I'd blown the £500 plus a lot more and ended up taking out credit cards to fund my habit in the hope in winning back my money.
This of course led to me constantly chasing my losses and if I did win it would be blown on the slots again.
I started feeling physically sick at the thought of how much time and money I had lost.
A couple of weeks ago I started feeling incredibly down and my husband was beginning to notice something was wrong so I came clean and told him everything.
I was scared at how he would react but it was honestly the best thing I could have done.
He was very understanding and has helped me to pay off some of my debts.
I have self excluded myself from all websites and installed blocking software on my pc and mobile phone.
I'm currently day 5 of no gambling I know I've got a long way to go and I'm hoping you guys will help me to succeed! xx

Welcome loopylou,

This Forum is helping to keep me out of temptation. I use The 2015 Challenge and recently hit over 100 gambling free days. It's very much one day at a time and I wouldn't say it's been entirely easy but it's working for me. I read the posts on here a lot and get a lot of encouragement from it. Getting the blocks on gambling sites has helped me as well. People are different and I've not had huge urges to gamble again, apart from one period recently when I was ill. I managed to overcome that and remain "clean". Couldn't do anything anyway cos blocks were on. I've even got a little bit of money to call my own now and the bookie definitely won't be getting any of it.

I wish you every success for the future and hope other people will post ideas and encouragement for you as well.

Hey everyone just thought I'd share that I'm now on day 8 with no gambling! I have had a few strong urges but have kept myself busy and they soon pass. This is a big achievement for me I'm finding that it's helping by treating myself at the end of each day with a little something if I don't gamble.
