Hello everyone,

I'm Michael and I'm currently making my final project for Uni - a documentary exploring the reasons people may hide their secrets and what effect it can have on people. I would very much like to speak to people who have/previously had bad expeirences with gambling addiction because I want a range of secrets to explore. Once such secret is about hiding epilepsy, something I have experienced for a number of years.

If anyone would like to get in contact with me about their experience with gambling addiction then please do comment. Any conversations will remain anonymous and will only be involved in the documentary with a signed approval form from yourselves.

I must stress that this documentary is for my education and GamCare are in no way involved in the project or responsible for it.

Please do get in touch 🙂

Michael

Hi Michael.

A great idea and I hope you will get to the root of what people are trying to hide from themselves like constant depression. all those people who a bored with life and looking for chemical highs in the brain. It does also have a devasting effect on other people.

Its a so called "entertainment" that by its very nature will create addicts. I still dont feel gambling gets treated as seriously as other addictions. It affects people from all walks of life and is a complex and delusional illness of the mind.

I see all the empty people trying to get a feel good feeling from a machine. I see a certain group trying to buy a lifestyle as if they are someone like a high roller. Someone in life for a fleeting moment

Im recovering now with blocks in place. I am shy and embarrassed about it so am not sure I would appear on film or anything. Im not sure what my story is but someone who sought solace with a slot machine

A great project and all the best with it

Hi Joydivider,

It's nice to hear a bit about your experiences, "solace with a slot machine" could be an interesting thing to hear about.

In my documentary people are offered the chance to remain anonymous whilst telling their tale - they can be silhouetted and not have their face shown. You're more than welcome to email me for a bit more information if you like.

And thank you for your kind words 🙂

Michael

Is there anyone else out there who would like to be involved? You have the right to remain anonymous in the documentary.

This would help me out a lot 🙂
