So I've had a problem with gambling for about 5 years now.

I'm always broke,I've always worked full time work for the last 9 years and I'm always broke.

Sometimes I ask myself wheres my money gone.

Sometimes I sit here and say what's the point in life?

I'm constantly having sickness from work due to mental health issues.

I take 100mg sertraline.

My ex girlfriend kicked me out of my house and I am currently sleeping on a mates sofa.

I feel detached from reality.

I need desperate help.

I am an addict to gambling.

Horse racing,slots.

I am behind on my bills.

This needs to stop.

Please god help me.

Please everyone support each other.

After reading some of the forums I have cut up all my bank cards so I can't access cash.

I have put gambling block on my bank accounts so I can't gamble online.

Hi R,

I agree with Helen that your priority should be making an appointment with your GP around your mental health.

Secondly I think there is a strong sense of acceptance in your post. Accepting that whilst gambling is your choice to do so, it is now a choice that has spiralled out of control and is now having a big impact on your life.

Thirdly; stick at it at work, I personally would not mention gambling to your bosses however your work may offer an ‘Employee Support Programme’ or equivalent which is confidential help for everyday problems in life. Worth a try?

I think your post clearly outlines that professional help is a great option for you and calling up GamCare can help with that. I have recently too cut up my debit card and have been put forward for counselling/therapy.

As others will tell you, you need Time, Access to Money and Location to gamble. Put barriers up against these and gambling becomes more difficult to perform.

I am on day 1 of non-gambling after a successful streak of almost a year, but this time I have targeted the very trigger that made me relapse. Anyway; very best of Luck in your recovery R.

Change will only happen if you successfully break the habit.
