Hi,
and sigh...
why, god, why?
I wish I could say that I am happy to be here, but happiness isn't a part of my world anymore.
Can someone explain to me why I continue to take every cent I earn and throw it away? Am I incapable of learning? What is wrong with me?
Anyway, sorry to be such a downer and hello to all.
I have read about blocking software, what is it exactly and where can I find it?
I'm sad.
Hey mate ... Welcome to the forum and you are not putting a downer on things!
Like yourself i am in the same situation, i am throwing my wage away weekly until i have nothing left.
I have 19p left to my name this week and why ? because i couldnt stop playing the fobt roulette in the betting shops.
I was never winning the other day and never actually had a chance to walk away with any money profit.
But as we gamblers know it would of gone back in to the machine either way.
So i am asking the same questions as you .... What is it going to take to quit and learn ? week after week its the same cycle of mess!
Then comes the begging borrowing guilt shame self loathing etc etc
I wish i could of been some help but i am in a bad situation too right now.
Cheers Jay
Hi Amblu,
Perfectly natural for a compulsive gambler to blow all their money, especially when we refuse to do anything about it. GA meetings are a great place to start, find your nearest one and attend. Read the litrature, listen to the advice of fellow CG's and open up about your issue. Follow the 12 step program to make help real changes, as if you dont change you will be back to where you started.
Regarding blaocking software I know Gamban is something you can get for phones and other devies, you can also use Gamstop to self exclude form all sites.
Hi amblu,
Welcome to the forum, and well done for posting here.
I find your post rather touching, as you find it difficult to abstain even though you’re well aware once you gamble your money, you won’t have it back. That doesn’t make sense to you or anyone else, but it seems like that is where you are, and I do empathise with the situation that you find yourself in.
I think you need professional help and support to overcome your gambling problem, and I’m suggesting you contact our free phone Helpline on: 0808 8020 133, and speak to one of our advisers about your problem. We have lots of help options available including counselling, and all our services are free and confidential. You can contact us anytime between 8.00am and midnight, everyday.
I wish you all the best in your journey to recovery, and please try and post as often as you can.
Best,
Beatrice
