Well i didnt think i would ever need to come on one of these sites, i guess i just hate seeing all those deposits appearing on my bank statement each month.

I used to enjoy a flutter here and there and never used to spend that much, i am not in debt, i always think i can just spend a few quid a week and it will be fine but thinking about it i have probably spent 20,000 at a guess throughout my life so maybe a few quid here and there is not realistic after all, come to think about it its probably more!

I always think i should give up, I always think i can but then i think what will fill that void?

I am 32 and have gambled since i legally could, I think its always there, smoking ads are banned but gambling ads are constantly in your face.

I did quit once for about a year, maybe this time i will try longer....

Hi gamechanger,

Welcome to the Forum!

You have had a long history with gambling and you find it hard to imagine your life without it.

It is possible, probably not easy, but possible.

Maybe you would like to talk your situation through with an advisor one to one. You can do so either on the Helpline on 0808 8020133 or on the Netline http://secure.gamcare.org.uk/netline/

Both services are open from 8am to midnight every day. An advisor would be able to talk to you about strategies which can help you stop and about other means of support which are available to you.

You have made a good first step in acknowledging your problem and by joining a support site, something you thought you would never do.

It is easy to think that you cannot do something which you haven't done yet, but when you think back you will probably find that there are many things you did do, even though you first thought that you couldn't. And going forward, stopping gambling, could be one of those changes you will make, even though you are not sure how right now.

I am glad that you found us and hope that you will find much support on this site.

Kind wishes

Gabriele
