Hi my name is Claire and I found out 5 years ago my husband had a gambling problem and it’s still going... I feel like I can’t talk to friends or family as this has been going on for so long. He hides it but I always find out, I did everything I could think of to help him, I even left with my 2 kids, but yet nothing has encouraged him to get help as he is in denial and doesn’t think he needs help as he has “control”... today I noticed he transferred money over (money that is for emergencies) to gamble. My head is in bits as I don’t know what to do anymore, I feel like he promises me things and I fall for it every time and then it goes back to what it was like. Can anyone give me any advice, I’m literally at my wits end. Thanks

Sorry to see this.

He doesn't want to stop. Until he does there is nothing you can do to help, support or fix him.

Protect the finances. No exceptions, no more falling for fake promises. All of them will look us in the eye, tell us what we want to hear then go back at it without batting an eyelid. He's proved he can't be trusted over and over therefore zero access to the money you need. Once you've done that think hard about what you want need and deserve from a partner and how you want life to be. Life with an active CG who doesn't want to stop is hell. Put yourself and your interests first.

As a gambler I am sorry to hear your position it must be horrible. My advice to you is to take control of all finances, secure all the house, savings, income in your name. If he wants your help take control of his money and allow him pocket money. Never believe him with money. Hope you work something out
