Hello ginus_bomber

Welcome to the GamCare forum. Sorry to hear you've had such a big loss. You sound devastated. You seem to be struggling to move on from that, understandably. It is a very large amount and it was only yesterday.

Are you asking for help to get the money back? Or help to draw a line under it and move on?

Drawing a line under it is key to being able to recover from compulsive gambling. If you chase your losses, you will lose more.

We'd like to be able to find out what support is available for you. What country are you in?

Take care

i'm mentally devasted. yes.

I'm from Italy. I would like to stop, yes. But my mind said to me "bet again to recover".

I watch every day a football match, and watching it the thinking is to bet to win and to recover.

Now i have to go on holidays with this thinking. My mind also is not relaxed because the thinking is to bet to recover.

Really If you chase your losses, you will lose more ? When i won important numbers of Euros, i feel better, my state of mind is positive, like drugs. Then after win i tried to recover but i lost, and after lost i would like to recover. And now if have lost more than 30K in 2 years with 2 different online website.

I need an help on both: both get the money back and at the same time if it possible to draw a line and said stop. But it is impossible for me every time i see a football match or i hear news about sports.

How could you help me please?

Thank you.

Hello again ginus_bomber

We can't help you get the money back. The only way to improve your financial situation is not to gamble. I know it is very hard to draw a line under it.

As you are in Italy, you can get some support from a website called www.gamblingtherapy.org. They are a free online service that provides practical advice and emotional support to people affected by problem gambling who live outside Great Britain. Their online chat advice service is open right now.

Best wishes

I try to call the website you suggest me. They said answered me today.

Draw a line how is it possible? I try also to open online betting website now just to look at the sport match without gambling.

Do you think there's no solution to recover? I think in my mind that there' an opportunity to win with one strong win bet. this is my thinking right now. i think i could win. why i think so?

Dear ginus_bomber

The question you ask is a complex one, and maybe one you would be best talking over with a therapist. But the short answer is, you think you can win again because you have a compulsion to gamble. It is the addiction which makes you believe that more gambling is the answer to your problems.

I also need to explain that this forum is a site where recovering gamblers can support each other. It is not designed to be a site where you can get an immediate response from an adviser. I know it's easy to say this and difficult to do it, but if you can be patient for a while longer, hopefully other recovering gamblers may be along in due course to let you know their experiences of putting losses behind them. If you want immediate 1:1 support, it would be best if you contact a service like gamblingtherapy.org or a service available in your own country.

I'm afraid I don't understand what you said about what happened when you contacted gamblingtherapy.org. You could also try Gamblers Anonymous in Italy:

National Telephone Number: 0039 - 33 8127 1215
Italia Email: [email protected]

In the meantime you are very welcome to continue using our online forum and our chat room. The chat room is next open at 8pm tonight and you can find it at www.gamcare.org.uk/chat

Best wishes

No, the chat is in English. If you're looking for help in Italian you would be better off using Gamblingtherapy.org or contacting the Gamblers Anonymous number I posted earlier.

Best wishes

Ginus there is no magic wand..in other words...there is no quick and easy way to help you. When us gamblers lose money...we keep going and lose more and more. Then we have big money to pay back. This takes a long time to fix...if you go to GA meetings and stay away from gambling....money problems will get better in time
