Hi All

Today I hope to take the first step to giving up Gambling

I’m a 31 year old male with a good job (50k) and own a home (25k equity)

I have been gambling for over 10 years and progressively it’s been getting worse. Roulette is my biggest downfall and have racked up huge debts on loans and credit cards (55k).

I hope today is the day I go clean and have a 5 year plan to repay the debt. It seems like an eternity and weighs on my mind everyday.

I pay back around £1000 a month on my debts and hope it doesn’t come down to selling my home.

Appreciate your support

Hi LJK,

Welcome to the Forum!

Thank you for starting to share your story here.

You are addressing your debts. Have you considered contacting a debt advice charity to help you think this through? We suggest www.payplan.com or www.nationaldebtline.co.uk or www.stepchange.org.

Have you also taken steps to help you address your gambling problem? You can always contact us directly on the Helpline on 0808 80 20 133 or NetLine http://www.gamcare.org.uk/frontline-services/netline. On both services you can talk one to one to an adviser and we can make practical suggestions, like asking someone to look after your money for you for a while and self-exclusion and suggest other support which is available to you, like face to face counselling.

I hope this helps.

Kind wishes

Gabriele
