Hi,
long term slots addict. I seem to be able to go through periods where I stop but I always seem to go back to it. Had a pretty serious binge on 4.1,21 where I lost £6000 and have put locks on gambling My monzo and natwest bank accounts which have worked. However, I know without this I’d have gone back already, it’s never far away from me. I’m just in here as I know  I need more support. I don’t think I ever get over it, I just make it harder for myself  so I suppose I’m just introducing myself in case I need to reach out. I have been in a much worse state/crisis in the past but these ‘slips’ are tough to take, I think I am learning the older I get but I have a lot of guilt and shame around my actions-whether I win or lose.
Hi megÂ
Â
My name is Andrew. Â

I am very much new too this .Â
You seem too have all things in place too stop you getting a sudden rush into a thrill .Â
Let the pain from your losses be the inspiration not too do it again. Â
The game will suck you up and send you packing with the shame and horrible feeling of you did it again .Â
We're all in it together stay strongÂ

Hi Meg and welcomeÂ
Â
It's good that you acknowledged the problem and put practical blocks to stop you when urge strikes.
Â
As you well know, all the blocks in the world cannot stop us if we suddenly become committed to have ago.
Â
Thats where you have to be in control and not allow it to happen. I know its easier said than done.
Â
Andrew suggested good tactic with stopping and thinking about painful losses. Yes it's good deterrent but to convince ourselves to think this way whilst riding the urge can be challenging.Â
Â
First stop beating yourself up. Addiction loves misery. Whatever is dine is done now. Cannot change the past but can certainly create a better future.
Â
Do you have any hobbies? They can distract you at those moments and also offer positive outcomes to your day. Speaking to a friend or coming on here also helps.
Â
See every single day you abstain as a victory in your journey. Its not an easy road but you can dictate the path you walk on. Be patient and kind to yourself.Â
Â
This is a good place to start when you want a chat or get advice regarding the matter. Advisers are here who can also offer help as 1 to 1 counselling or other directions to help you in your journey.Â
Â
You're not alone.

Hello Meg!
I am totally understand you, cause I have been here before.
I bet on sports several times a week, but these are mostly small amounts. Now for me gambling is just entertainment, but a couple of years ago I suffered from betting addiction. Then betting was everything to me, I lost half of my savings and almost ruined my marriage. Don't repeat my mistakes.
Affected by gambling?
