This gambling has got me. Doing a real number on my life. I f%%ked up good this time. Just fantastic. Spent a lovely morning at the bookies losing the last money to my name watching a lil animated ball spin around a wheel. Just brilliant. No food no rent no bills for a month. Endless debt and calls and letters. 12 years of the same s**t. It's a wonder I'm still alive with all this c**P. Don't even need to go into figures. But it's alot. All gone. Not sure there's any coming back from this one. Fu%%ked up real good this time. Tried gamcare counselling maybe I was unlucky as usual but that guy didn't seem interested and who'd blame him. Tried national problem gambling clinic and they gave me a trainee who also didn't seem to interested. Maybe it's just me. Ah well who cares. Get out while ya can guys.

Frankie, its a dreadful addiction that takes everything from us, but at teh root of it all is our decisions to do it. Look up your nearest GA meeting and commit to the recovery program, there is no quick fix for this but you will slowly turn your life around for the better once you stop gambling. Not an easy thing for us to do thats why the support of the group is so vital. Be open and honest. I wish you well.

Hello frankie123,

It sounds like you're having a difficult time, and after trying various sources of support, you're perhaps wondering where to go from here. One way of looking at past experiences of treatment, could be along the lines of 'That was then, this is now', in the sense that you have changed since your previous experiences and so have the treatment providers, so if you were to use GamCare or the National Problem Gambling Clinic again, you would likely have a new and different experience rather than a repeat of the old experience. Looking at it this way allows you to be more open to possibilities, rather than feeling 'Been there, done that', which could close you off from using support.

As Joe-90 has said, you could also look at GA, which could offer you a lifelong fellowship. Another option for some could be residential treatment with Gordon Moody Association https://www.gordonmoody.org.uk/contact-us Some of our forum members also use the local support of their GP, Citizens Advice Bureau and local food banks, when they are struggling with low mood and practical difficulties with paying bills and putting food on the table.

Please feel welcome to call us on our freephone 0808 8020 133 or try our netline, if you'd like to have a chat with an adviser about the various options for additional support.

Take care,

Forum admin.
