Hi all
well where do I start
Ive came on here after contacting gamcare and speaking to a support worker (very nice lady she was to)
Well I suppose I should start from the beginning and that goes back 10 or 12 years.
Started on the 10p slots then onto larger machines. Then most recently online gambling.
Ive getting in well over my head probably to the tune of £12000.
Don't get me wrong I've wanted to stop for a very long time but as we all know when a win comes along where back on top of the world and being down and depressed is all but forgotten. But this time I want to put a end to my gambling for once and for all.
Unfortunately I live alone so don't have anyone to turn to.Well not totally true as its the shame I telling family about my addiction has a lot to do with it.
If there's anybody out there that can help in any way it would be much appreciated.
Ps sorry if I've went on a bit
Hi Jeff. Thanks for coming on here and telling us your story. I believe that's the very first step to finding a bet-free lifestyle. I've only very recently admitted that I am addicted and found reading through the forums opens your eyes a little as to what gambling does to peoples' lives.
This may sound a little outlandish and blunt, so please don't take it the wrong way, but I feel as if you might need the shame to help you stop. If you tell your family about what you've done - they will stand by you and help you. I'm sure they will not be happy at the beginning, but then you can see what sort of effect your gambling has on others. I found that this really helped me, personally.
Everyone is different, though. So - if you don't feel as if you should do that- then that's up to you. Just my thoughts on the situation.
You should look into the 2015 gamble-free challenge. Try and go the rest of the year without placing a bet. I'm doing it and you should, too!
All the best, Billy.
Cheers for reply billy and I think your right.

No problem, friend! We're all in this boat together. Do it when you feel the time is right and you won't believe the weight that will be lifted from your shoulders! You should have a look into self-exclusion and online software blocking if you need to. They charge a sum for the software, which (to me, at least) seems to be a final punishment for gambling too much - then it will all be over.
Fill us in on what happens with your family if you do decide to tell them.
Billy.
