So I'm aki, been gambling for about 5 years now on and off. Started gambling when I first went to a casino on a blackjack table and it's got worse since. Self excluded from majority of the casinos and then started playing live blackjack online. I've lost some hefty sums and after a loss I always say to myself never again yet I end up playing again. Recently started again after a few months out and was going well for me. I was on a run of where I was constantly winning but as u know where this is going to end up I eventually lost it all. Just a few days back I was playing and lost almost 5k in about an hour. Since then I've self excluded myself from many online sites and im adamant that this time will be my last. I've read a few success stories on here which has gave me motivation that I can be done. I just hope I can be writing a post a year down the line saying I've not touched gambling and I feel much better.

Hi Aki

Welcome and thank you for posting, I hope you find the forum useful in supporting you with your recovery.

Well done for excluding from most of the casinos, however you may find it useful to know that you can use the National Casino Forum to self exclude from all casinos. http://www.nationalcasinoforum.co.uk/playingsafe/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/ef.pdf

For online sites you could try using a blocking software, use this link to help. http://www.gambleaware.co.uk/confidential-support-and-advice/self-exclusion

It's great to hear that you have been using the Sucess Stories section to help motivate you. We also offer a live chatroom throughout the week. It might be worth thinking about whether or not this would be useful for you. http://www.gamcare.org.uk/forums/chatrooms.

I hope you find this useful

Kind regards

Cade

Hi Aki.

Good start in joining the forum.
I am on a bit of a negative tonight so I'll get this one out of the way now; most people only come on here when they have had a bad loss and/or run out of money. Will you be as motivated with a couple of hundred quid in the bank?? I wasn't. I slipped half a dozen times after my first sign-up and that's why I know that 90% of new members here will be back on the casino sites within a day.

If you're one of the serious ones, install some blocking software right now. Now, not in the morning!
I use K9 web filter and it has saved me tens of thousands of pounds over the last 18 months or so. No casino sites will get round it - just make sure you get SOMEONE ELSE to set the password, it would be totally idiotic to have the password yourself.

Do that and your journey starts here, Excluding yourself from sites is pointless, you can almost always reverse the exclusion and even if not, new casino sites open up every day. For a committed gambler, there is always a way.

Blocking software = blanket ban. Do it if you're serious, otherwise, see you in a month or so.

Haven't touched a bet since. I Have been tempted but managed to stay away. Just abit of positive motivation guys, just do other things to keep your mind occupied and put all the precautions in place. There will always be temptation whether it's adverts on TV or walking past bookies that won't go away but do we really want to live our life like this? Work so hard then blow it in a matter of hours? Gambling every penny we have but can't afford to pay for bills shopping etc? It shouldn't be this way. And if we actually thought about all these things before we actually gambled then I can assure you many would think twice. But we do it first then reflect afterwards when it goes horribly wrong. We can do this. Gambling is the worst thing anybody can get into but we can overcome this. Step by step!
