Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can offer any advise from experience, or if there are any ex gamblers to help. My mum has been gambling for the past 20 years, she has been in thousands of pounds of debt. But it has Come to light today that she is back gambling and owes over 20,000. I found this out because she contacted all my friends, ones with businesses begging for money. She's tried counseling in the past and it hasn't worked. She owes family members money, loan sharks and other gamblers. What shall I do?
Hi Maggie
I feel for you. Puts you in a terrible position.
My suggestion would be to contact gamcare by phone / chat and get some help.
there are things you can do to protect yourself but if your mum doesn't want to stop its so difficult

Hi Maggie, have you GAM-ANON they are there for you. Your Mum can only help herself either coming on here or GA you can point her in the right direction but she makes the choices. But you need to talk to someone yourself your are under incredible pressure and you need to share it out thats where gam-anon is great.

Your mum is very ill and probably finds paying people/bills an impossible task so probably looks for a big win to get her rotting life back to normal.
She has an horrendous disease so please don't desert her or she will get worse (trust me I know)she needs all the love she can get at the moment although it might be a strange thing to do considering what she does.
Affected by gambling?
