Hi,
so I'm back at square one again! I gave up gambling roughly 2 years ago, went completely cold turkey and never looked back, then (for reasons I can't even explain myself) about 5 months ago I began again. At first it was the odd small amount here and there, and then came the few big wins and that was it me hooked again. Since then the money I have saved from giving up for the past 2 years has gone and I'm now back at square one. My only saving grace is I. Am not in any debt, but I definitely should have more to show for my last 5 years of work than just that and I have finally had enough...I don't know what I should do now cold turkey just resulted in a what in suppose would be called a 'relapse' in my gambling and I don't want it to have a hold over me for the rest of my life which at the moment is exactly what I think will happen. And that's what has brought me here tonight... I'm just hoping maybe joining here and talking will help and I'm hoping and praying a slot machine will never be getting another penny out of me!
Hi Ant1004,
As a recovering compulsive gambler, I applaud your 1st attempt...Amazing!
You have indeed had a relapse but you must forgive yourself & move on...You have all the proof you need to know you can stop! Many gamblers don't last that long the 1st time!
I am no expert but I have read enough to know that every compulsive gambler in recovery is just one gamble away from misery & you may not want to hear this but, it is something that you may have to fight your whole life! Surely you had a better life fighting the addiction than you are now, giving in to it?
The fruit machines need us to function, we don't need them! Come on, put your bank card somewhere safe & join us back on the road to recovery!
