I have had a gambling addiction for about 5-6 years and and I feel like I have spent 1000s of hours on this. Looking at statistics, staying up for games, being glued to the monitor for 15 hours per day during weekends. I have lost a lot of jobs because of gambling. I usually bet on sports. I build up a bankroll and manage to keep it for a couple of weeks and even withdraw profits and feel good about it. But then I go on 10 game cold streak where my stakes go up and end up losing all of it. i have always dreamed about being a professional gambler and how easy life would be without working, but in reality even if I win. It does not make me happy. I always feel depressed even after a big win. It sucks the life out of you. I wish I could go back to how i felt when i was a teenager. Thinking about money all the time is not a good thing.

I know a lot of peope here are addicted to online casinos, but mine is mainly sports betting. Is there anybody here who has had some issues with sports betting?

Yeah it’s a twisted addiction brother, it is about more than money for us I think. We have routed this messed up behaviour within our brains and struggle to keep it at bay. Whenever we fail to we inevitably end up having to deal with the consequences. We can never put the pipe down as soon as we take the first hit. It’s not a clear analogy as there is no substance involved but we are essentially no different to C*****e addicts.

The answer is easy but yet so hard, give it up.

The dust has settled. I lost 1200 this weekend and lost my job last week because of gambling. Its only when you mess up big time, you see that there is an underlying theme going on. And for me it is definetely gambling.Starting new job tomorrow. Next wage i get will be for gym membership and and supplements. I was going to the gym about 3-4 months working with a private trainer, then fell of the wagon. Went full Owning Mahowny for 3 months no gym, betting everyday, minimum sleep, insomnia alcohol and cigarettes everyday. Madness. Feel relieved its over for now.
