hi all, joined this site a while ago but today is my first time really using it, I don't know where to start, gambling is taking up all my time, money and energy, it's all I think about, I want to stop, I really do, but the urge just takes over. I have literally got 50p to last me 8 days because I have gambled all my money away. I suffer with mental health problems and the addiction is only adding to the stress of it all.

Does anyone have any hints, tips or advice on how I can overcome this addiction

Hello,

If online gambling is your thing then I urge you to register with GAMSTOP as it will stop you in your tracks.

Best of luck.

Self exclusion through Gamstop is brilliant. You will not be able to access any of the online casinos for between 6 months and 5 years, do 5 years if you really want to stop. Forget about the losses mate and get your life back on track (perhaps find hobbies to fill up the time you would otherwise spend gambling), rather than be a victim of this disgusting gambling industy. Good luck

Hi Dean, reading stories on this site, especially success stories and the diaries have really helped me. Good luck!

Hi dean if you have mental health issues, which compulsive gambling is all part of, you should tell your gp. Find a GA meeting, sign up to gamstop, call gamcare, hand over your finances to someone you trust. For money problems call stepchange. Get some support it will really help.

If you have the urge to gamble, read some of the stories on this board and that'll stop you...
