Hi all, I’m new to this.

Yesterday, I lost an unrecoverable amount of money, and had been gambling since the beginning of October.

I had kept convincing myself that I would get it all back, but after yesterday, I had to come clean to the wife about what I’ve been up to, and how bad it now is.

Likely to end in divorce, and not seeing much of my 21 month old little boy.

I have now acknowledged I have a problem, (albeit too late!) and am now starting my journey to recovery.

So Hi everyone, my name is Craig and I have a gambling problem.

Hi craig

Well done for coming out and admitting your addiction, rest assured you are in the right place!

I sincerely hope your situation doesn’t lead to divorce, as this is the time that you need your support network the most.

From here on in only your actions will speak volumes, words will be simply just that.

I encourage you to put all bans in place so that should you get any urges then you are prevented from acting upon them

When I first joined the gamcare community I was scared, worried about being judged and was probably sceptical of it, i now find myself 30 odd days into my gamble free LIFE, fully immersed in a community that wants the best for everyone and is there to help you every step of the way.

I wish you all the best on your journey to recovery

I echo those sentiments.  My gambling addiction came out recently and like you expect it will end in divorce and likely being separated from my 2 young children.

The lies are in the past you need to be honest with yourself and those around you.  If you have £10 in your pocked expect to be asked if its still there tomorrow - although you will expect it to be if the gambling demon starts talking to you in a moment of having your guard down then it might not be.  If you have any urges to gamble having those barriers in place, such as blocking access to online sites, will be a godsend.

Thank you.

i have registered with GamStop (I have only had a problem over online gambling) for the maximum 5yr period.

i have also spoken to an advisor on the Gamcare helpline who is referring me for professional help.
