Hello, not too sure how this works really but thought I’d share my story.

I am currently 21 years old and I have been gambling since the day I turned 18, I calculated it all up and I have lost over 40k!

On just one site alone I had gambled nearly half a million through winning and gambling it back again.

Just like most people it started small and before I knew it the whole thing was completely out of hand. Luckily I still live with my parents so I’ve still had a roof over my head and food in my belly. I had been getting huge wins and chasing them since I got the first one. I signed up to Gamstop around a year ago in the hope that would fix the problem... it didn’t. I just found a gambling website that wasn’t blocked by Gamstop. My next move was to block all gambling transactions with a control on my banking app, this also didn’t work and the control could be turned off with a simple swipe and 48 hours later I’d be straight back to it.

After having a bet on the Euros last night that was ruined by 1 goal and prevented me from winning £10,000 I decided to... and you guessed it... try and win it another way. I pumped £600 in and lost it all within an hour. I should also mention that my losses in the past week equate to £1550 and that money was all I had as I had just recently resigned from my job.

I’ve banned myself from that site, as of today I’m starting the road to be gamble free!

I was 18 when I had my first big win, and it wasn’t until 8 years later I finally went into a physical GA meeting to seek help. Maybe finding one locally maybe a benefit for yourself because I know what it’s like when you work out all the tricks to gain access to gambling again and having it at your finger tips as well as the help too.

I am not taking anything away from gam care here and the amount of support you have here from members and volunteers. a wealth of knowledge and experience on here if your willing to put the time in to better yourself and forget your losses or how much one has gambled.

you are younger than me before making this massive step and admitting you have a problem and need help and that’s fantastic and I hope you continue to be gamble free, of course we have a bumpy journey some times but living without gambling makes you feel more alive than what ever the biggest win could ever give you.

focus on the priorities build yourself up and get back out there and keep fighting this addiction!

you are not alone
