Just some good news. I stopped gambling in Dec 2012 and moved to London from the US in jan 2013. Apart from a 24 hr $500 blip last year I have managed to pay enough back so nobody is bothering me anymore. I still owe a few bits and pieces which I am working on.
Had anyone said to me a year ago that things will get better I would have laughed at them.
But once you stop and let the fog in your head clear, there is always a way forward. It could only be £20 a month off a debt but once you continue to pay, people leave you alone.
After a month or so of stopping I noticed I was starting to care more about myself and others.
Simple things returned like showering more often, Changing my bed linen, filling my fridge, buying socks and jocks, living in a cleaner flat etc.
I did not set out to do these things but when I stopped gambling, the real me started to appear again, slowley at first but then I began to feel the freedom from racing brain to not such a bad person after all.
Don't expect overnight miracles but give your self some time, step back, and soon, before you know it you will start to notice an improvement in your life. That's all really, My life is far from perfect but far better than it was and yours can be too.
Take Care, Andy
Hi Andy, I enjoyed reading your post today as I'm working on living a cleaner life from this weekend onwards.
I've not gambled since Tuesday and deleted all my betting apps on my smart phone.
I went for a run & gym, cleaned my car and read a book to take my mind away from gambling. I'm still hurting from my big loss.. But luckily its not left me in any debt as it was from my savings account. I just have to start from 0.00 again which will be hard but gambling doesn't pay! Hard work does! I won't let myself get in that gambling bubble again. I hated that way of life!
I can see in your message that living a clean life in time will make you feel a lot more happier. Which is what I want and working towards each day I wake up.
Thank You.
