Just thought I would share with everyone my gambling life so far and what it entails.
I am 27 years old and have been gambling for roughly 10 - 11 years. It is something that I started doing with my friend that just escalated into a serious/destroying hobby after I had captured my first win. Now this addiction can destroy your whole personality, the person you have been brought up to be as well as hurting many people around you.
Over the years I have lost the ability to appreciate what money is and how valuable it is to my family. In my eyes I see gambling as I way to gain money, feel the buzz and thrill in doing so but also forgetting about the consequences it brings and the anxiety and stress you feel on a daily basis.
It is only yesterday that I lost £200 and this is constantly on my mind. Do I go back to try and chase this money? If I win this back will I be content in the fact that I am now evens? The answer is no. My main problem with gambling is the constant urge to win my money back, to walk away from a bookies being in the black, it had made me into a selfish person.
In writing this post it does make me feel better but I am also aware that as of yet I haven't done anything to help my addiction. I am currently in debt due to gambling which my partner doesn't know about. I also worry that my son will be affected by this too in the future.
Sorry for waffling on I just thought id put It out there to see if anyone had the same problem and how they are handling it.

Your story sounds very similar to mine. Same age and same persistence in chasing the losses.
I had my final bet on Tuesday and midday and I am determined it will be my last.
I am also in debt and want to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
I found it sobering reading the family section in the forum and reading peoples partners explain the hurt their partner has caused them.
It's a horrible, horrible addiction but there is loads of support here so I have found in my short space on time here.

Yes I have also found reading other threads very helpful and it helps to build that determination of fighting the addiction.
I have left my wallet at home today so this is day 1 for me and hoping it will continue into the next week and so on.
Well done in trying to battle this addiction matey and I hope we stay in contact on this forum and help each other with updates.

I am keeping a diary as I think it will help me get through this and vent when I need to.
I am an online only gambler so fingers crossed the multiple self exclusions will do the trick!
