Hi Con, I feel like my advice would just be try to do something else when you feel the need to gamble, 600 is alot to have saved but at least you are not in debt because of it?

The advice is all here in these pages: call the helpline, get some counselling, go to GA...Unless you get help & commit to recovery, anything you 'save' will go eventually! There isn't a magic cute but getting to the root of why you do it, should help you address the stopping.

Can you hand your finances over to anyone to help break your gambling (Time-Money-Location, remove one & you can't gamble) triangle?

You're not alone not wanting to accept you have a problem but you wouldn't be here asking for help if you didn't. Only you can change you - ODAAT

The only way to stop is to first of all, want to stop! Then you have to tell someone close to you. Then you have to remove all access to money. Then you can start your recovery. Best wishes x

Hi Conorj1993

Nearly everyone will relapse and continue to do so unless you have a day of strength where you seriously get telling people close and self excluding from every gambling den youive been using...Yes I call them gambling dens.

If you are blocked you cant gamble and you cant have those silly and ill thoughts that today you will win a chunk back.

Weve been there and its a losers game. Every gambler ignores the fact that they dont set up these places for people to win money from them more often than people are losing. The machines and everything all have a built in odds heavily against you

However we wonder in with a head full of lucky clover, or looking for escape of relief from stress or depression. Problem gamblers like me always had that within them. I could never walk away and I finally realised that gambling was destroying me and just something I shouldnt be doing.

Thats the barrier....forgetting the money lost and putting it behind you...Not particularly easy but possible with a healthy state of mind and the right help.

Its simply a question of finally dealing with it or not. If you dont you will continue to gamble whenever your guard is down. The feeling just washes over you as I well know. Its deadly and it will ruin you

You must treat it with the fear and respect and addiction deserves. In a way its the most lethal and misunderstood of all the addictions because the mind control aspect is so confusing.

I wish you all the best but please take action or you will be gambling next time you feel flush or enough time has passed for your mind to kid you to have another go

Best wishes from everyone on the forum
