So i joined a few days ago and have being reading a lot of posts, it's comforting to know that i'm not alone!! However i'm nervous and scared of what comes next.

I still have trouble admitting i have a problem, like i know i do but i'm too ashamed or frightened to even begin to deal with it . I have always struggled with depression, anxiety and ocd like symptoms since i can remember.

The gambling started (online slots mainly) about 2 years ago as a way of hiding from the world and it soon spiraled out of control. My debt is crippling and well my health isn't great. Its a lot to take for a 26 year old. I feel so guilty for being so d**n stupid.

I don't even no where to begin to deal with any of it. i find it hard to find the motivation to get out of bed at the minute.

All sites are now blocked but i cant shift the mood it has me in not being able to play, im so over whelmed with frustration and desperation i cant concentrate .

Any advice and support would be great.

Hi greenunit - Well done for joining the site and seeking help - you'll find lots of support and advice here, as you probably have already seen.

The important thing is to look after yourself and also not to be too hard on yourself - we are all human and have all faced the same feelings you are experiencing now.

Perhaps you can arrange to speak to a Gamcare counsellor if that will help.

The good thing is that you are young and have the chance to start a new gambling-free life before it's too late. You will start to feel better even after a few days of being 'clean' so stay strong - you can do it!

I see that you have joined the 2014 Challenge - good move - I'm sure you will gain from it.

Best wishes,

Joanna

Hi greenunit

Welcome to the forum and well done for posting. You will find a lot of support here and a community of people who understand your struggle with gambling please keep reading and posting on the forum.

You have already taken steps to restrict your access to online gambling sites which is a big step forward. Some of our forum users have described additional ways they try to limit their freedom to gamble online, by arranging their finances in ways that slow down how quickly they can access their money, or limiting their ability to spend money online. You might read forum posts here where members talk about changing their bank account to remove the facility to spend online, instead using a basic cash card that allows you to withdraw cash on the high street.

I would also encourage you to call our helpline and talk things through with a GamCare adviser on 0808 8020 133 or on our netline. The advisers can provide emotional support and helpful information as well as facilitate a referral to free one to one counselling appointments if you’d like to access that service.

Best wishes

Rachel.
