Together, these tools have helped many people stop gambling and start rebuilding their lives.
Have you used blocking software or self-exclusion in the past?
How have these helped you manage your gambling?
Hi. It’s 2.10am and I am unable to sleep. I’ve managed to spend my rent money on online slots. With no access for borrowing money, I’m already with Stepchange, I’m worried sick.
I don’t really know when my gambling took over my life but slowly and surely it did.
Im a pensioner but still work. Im on my own at home, isolated mainly. Gambling has been my friend I guess.
This is the first attempt I have made to help myself.
I need to get out of this situation.
I hear you , im also on a debt management plan due to gambling on top of gambling . I have managed to go before 6 months plus gambling free and it feels great. This year is awful though, i have gambled more than i have ever and owe money to friend family and i'm a mess and in my own mind im so ashamed of myself. You'll get through the month, explain to stepchange you've relapsed with your gambling and they will help you in your payments.
I wish that online gambling was banned, you can self exclude and all other tools , but if you can't stop you find a way around it. Gambling is evil, i just wish at the times i go to do it i could tell myself it will only get worse. It never gets better .
I wish you all the best and hope you can quit today and never go back.
The trouble with online gambling is it is so easy to do. Putting in a 2 with two zeros is so much easier than getting 10 £20 notes from the bank and going into a bookmakers. The Internet has made gambling way too easy.
@mlzfdyo0q8 yep it is....and you already figured it out...if it is so easy to spend money there often is a reason behind it
@mlzfdyo0q8 somehow my reply vanished.
yep, when something is very easily available and gives easy pleasure, there is probably a reason behind it
A lot more people struggle with online gambling than most would admit. It usually starts as entertainment, but chasing losses and trying to “win it back” can get stressful really fast.
Taking breaks, setting limits, and knowing when to stop honestly makes a huge difference.
