Hi all,
I sit here with my phone next to me, 9 mins left on a 0-0 game waiting for a goal to be able to make back a little money to claw back 0.1% of all my losses. (roughly)
I've never been to a Casino. I don't play cards. I don't go into betting shops. I just gamble on sports (mainly football) online. I can't stop. Ive got myself into the worst debt. My credit rating is so shot to pieces that I can't even get on the tenancy of mine and my girlfriends first place.
I just want to get free from it all. I wish I could turn back the clocks and never do it. I would have so many nice things. As it is I can't even afford to pay the last £85 of my bills this month. I have £6000+ in debt. I will have to pay back around £20k to pay that off as it's all in Payday Loans, a 39.9% Credit card (£2600 limit).
I need help and am stuck what to do. Anyone got a time machine?
Hi LondonLoser.
Welcome to the forum.
Yes you do need help and it is actually all around you. You will certainly get some of the best advice and help here. Give gamcare a ring as many times as you like. Its good to hear that one to one voice and they are very helpful
You cant turn the clocks back but you can stop gambling and recover your pride and self respect. You will know that the fun went long ago with gambling. Weve discussed this on other threads and you probably wont even be enjoying football as its just a cold sweat, grim determination that is felt with many forms of gambling.
With all the odds calculated and stacked against you nobody is offering easy life changing odds on Man U vs the Grannies 11. Its not an income scheme and the addiction has crept over you and clouded your mind. It develops compulsive tendencies where you cant stop and everything is fed back to the gambling dens as I call them
The main thing is that you stop gambling and take all the right steps to block and enter full recovery. The rest will fall into place because its your mental health and recovering from this addiction thats most important.
There is help with financial advice and you can only pay what you can afford. You are in a dark spiral where money and money worries are everything. This plays onto further gambling where you may wrongly think that gambling is a way out.
Im glad you dont do other forms of gambling but just one method can be and will be the ruin of you. Gambling will only make your life worse and worse
In recovery and with counselling you start looking at life and indeed money in a new way.
Being gamble free is a born again moment and a real feeling of self respect.
Best wishes from everyone on the forum
Good morning,
6k is a lot of debt but not as much as some (i include myself in that bracket).
Best thing to do today will be to give Stepchange Debt Charity a call or an e mail.
You tell them who you owe monies to and what your outgoings and inncomings are. They negotiate with the creditors on your behalf a reasonable sum to pay back to them each month. Generally all interest and fees are frozen on the debt.
Stepchange manage it all and its called a debt management plan. You pay them and they pay your creditors. Plus you pay them no fee fot this service and it will stop telephone calls and letters demanding payment.
It knackers your credit rating but if you are at the pay day loan stage it is there already.
What have you got to lose
Best wishes
6K isnt so bad , i think i was spilling over 10K when i realised i was up s**t creek with no way back
i would seriously consider getting yourself in touch with an insolvency practioner asap
i went into an IVA had nowhere else to turn really , my debt repayments were hitting something like half of a my monthly wages and that was without other bills the IVA wiped about 60% of my wages out
im just over 2 years through it now with another 2 n half to go and lifes a lot better
still have the odd punt but i know where i am with my money now
credit is the root of all evil
