Just blew 300 on my lunch break. Absolutely ridiculous on my part! I've been here before numerous times and stopped but I always seem to end up back at this point. I feel I have to stop before it gets way out of control again and I end up in a hole I can't get out off. Why can't I, after 3-6 months or longer without gambling stay away for good? So annoyed with myself as I've promised myself time and time again I wouldn't do this. I know where this road goes but I can't help the feeling of getting that one big win. Anybody any ideas on kicking this habit for good? Like hypnotherapy or something?
Hi Bhondi,
Its so hard isnt it! I have managed to clear some debt but its so bloody hard! I like you keep thinking a 'big win' would be so much easier but I dont know what Id do if I lost, thats what I keep having to remind myself! I have been really tempted tonight but I came on here instead and just reading some of the stories has helped me. My advice-tell urself u will check this site before allowing urself to gamble, it might help u think twice. Im no expert and certainly not one to be dishing out advice but Iv found it helps. Good luck man x
Hi Bohdi,
Welcome to our Forum. Well done for wanting some support and thanks for getting in touch.
I can hear that you have come to the realisation that your gambling has become problematic as you seem to have noticed a pattern in your gambling.
The positive thing is that you manage to abstain for 3 to 6 months at a time, which is really good, so be easy on yourself. But on the flip side, consider thinking about what it is that triggers the urge to gamble again. Sounds like you are angry and frustrated and I get a sense you feel as though you are back to "square one", but there is hope. Have a read of others' experiences of gambling and how they have/are overcoming their struggle with gambling.
