Checking in on a lovely sunny day and as I type this I realised I've actually got a tan! I haven't actually seen much of the sun over the last couple of year as I spent hours in front of the PC playing online slots!

So as mentioned above my big problem is with online slots this started one night when the weather was too bad to go to the actual casino. I never really gambled much at the casino just went to be with my friends for a laugh and a few pints but once I started playing online it became the main reason I got out of bed each day.

I installed blocking software on my PC and of course self-excluded myself this really helped. Also a very emotional conversation with a counsellor in the online support here. This was the first time I admitted I had a problem and realised I had to do something about it, seemed to lift some of the weight from my shoulders.

Anyway time to get ready for work good luck for the coming week everybody.

Daz

Checking in on this stunning day with the thought of gambling so far out of my head.

The only time I've thought about it actually is when i typed in 'gamcare' into Google there. I'm guessing there must be a time when recovery is so ingrained in us, that logging onto the website will not be needed anymore as hopefully the website will be our only tie to the world of gambling. I see JamesP no longer posts here anymore as he was a legend around these parts, so there must be a natural end for recovery.

Anyway, ill be here for a long time yet and definitely until 31/Dec/2014.

I would say my vice was primarily Football and Fobts, but Horse racing, Greyhounds, online, poker, womens handball!! You name it and i would bet on it!

I remember hearing a story a couple of years ago about a couple of compulsive gamblers riding in the back of a car one day, pouring with rain and they were betting serious crazy money on which drip of rain would make it to the bottom of the window first - Mad! But that was me , just over 100 days ago!

Keep strong gang, guard up, think positive and know there will be a day gambling doesnt do it for us anymore.

Drew

Hi All - checking in ~ will be Day 43 on Sunday of being gamble free, marching [walking slowly today tho as hurt the back again] forwards to 31st Dec with all the other soldiers on this challenge by choice, not gambling by choice and abstaining one day at a time, by choice.

I have gambled on many & most things, in the 70's the bookies basically only did horses & greyhounds, plus there was always the footie pools [never won]! As time and technology progressed, anything and everything was available and I dabbled around other sports but mainly dogs and nags as well as fruit machines in pubs & clubs. Then on-line poker and slots killed me as so easy to spend and quick! Having 'kicked the habit' tho for over five years, my recent relapse(s) was only on one particular online poker slot game on one particular bingo online site! I still haven't set foot in a bookies for over 6 years, FOBT's were just coming in when i quit thankfully or I would have spent a lot of time & money on them I know! I did dabble but then went cold turkey soon after, so can see the allure they have, and how quick they take your cash but a lucky escape for me! Just the one game and the bingo to take my mind of the losses was my last vice! So this time around is a bit easier for me as I have no compulsion to gamble on anything else and self excluded [life ban by me] from this one site means I can't ever play it again ~ but every now and again the urge is really strong still! Sorry for waffling - hope the above is useful for Mr B's stats!!

keep strong everyone, it is doable, life does get back to some semblance of normal and the debts do get paid eventually ~ just persevere and abstain by choice!

looking forward to Sundays round up already. Great job Mr B, long may it continue. Cliff

Checking in on day 154,

Finally checking in at a reasonable time, a lot has improved for me and I have started up playing golf again, more to Do to fill my time. The only time I ever seem to think of gambling now is when I think about the football and especially throughout the World Cup everybody else had something on I felt like maybe I should but I didn't because I wouldn't ! Also I seem to dream about lapsing and it feels so bad then I wake up and realise that I haven't. But on the whole it feels very good to be this far down the line and I am proud to tell people of my progress! Good luck everyone hope it's a good one for you

Thanks 🙂

Good morning everyone, checking in on day 74 (i think!?!)

I have been gambling for over 20 years. My first bet was a 1 european football accumulator, which won me just over 17. From then on i was a weekend punter, football mostly and only a few quid. I some started doing horses too, but never gambled much.

My problems really started with online gambling and in particular slots. I could never bring myself to handing over large sums of cash in a bookies (by large i mean 20+) but online it just seemed like numbers and it was much a case of easy come easy go.

Thankfully those days are behind me and by the time i take my family on holiday in August i will be over 100 days free.

You can all do it!

Checking in on day 109.

Sorry for the late check in but even I'm off work for a week life is very busy at the moment.

Lou's mum is still in hospital and we still don't really know what's going on and therefor everyone worries and the nerves are at the edge.

Hope everyone here is ok and keep the good work going.

Wolfgang
