Hi to all,
Checking in day 12. Very up and down week but still going strong. Am wishing the days away but conscious I'm also wishing my life away!
Mark
Hi all
Checking in 142 days
Good week end to all
Another mental work week comes to an end - can't believe how quickly the weeks are going....then time off goes by in a blur and the treadmill starts all over again!
It's looking like a very very quiet week for the challenge - concerningly quiet. Less than 50% of soldiers checked in and only just over 24 hours until the deadline for the week. Ouch. I'm just hoping that the weather has seen everyone enjoying life outdoors - but that they will still check in before midnight tomorrow.
Hoping everyone is ok. If AdamPrice reads this - sincerely hope that you got through discussions with loved ones Adam - you're always welcome.
Mr B
Hi all, checking in for the week, day 63 clean. Going on holiday tomorrow for a week, don't no if I will make check in for next week (day 70), so just in case I don't you no the reason why. Thanks D.
Hi - check in - still no bets - Day 141!
Good morning everyone,
Checking in on 226 gamble free days. What a fantastic article by Mother B, truly from the heart that certainly had lots of powerful insights to a persons gambling problem. Thank you for sharing that with us.
I have been travelling around Scotland this week with work and it was great to catch up with some old pals. One of them has a gambling problem and I had a productive chat with him explaining my recovery and how I have dealt with my gambling issues. He is extremely keen on stopping gambling and I really hope he does for his and his family's sake.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the fantastic commonwealth games.
Mike
re-checking in on my Day 146 after a very busy week so am only now able to comment on Mama B's wonderful article (and to thank her for my birthday wishes!).
Mama B - I found your wise and compassionate words very touching; thank you so much for describing your journey with Mr B and for your inspiring advice. Our leader is very fortunate to have such a loving and supportive mother, and of course you must be very proud of your courageous and inspiring son. Without demeaning those in real hostage situations, for you it must be like getting your loved one back from a terrible kidnapping and rebuilding your life together. Blessings on you both.
Joanna

Another GF week for me and almsot another month to add on my list 🙂
I havnt posted alot this week, but I have been reading the forums alot, especially the friends and family section to get a bit of an insight in to what my partner has gone through. It must have really sucked...
P.S - AdamPrice - Pick yourself up and get back on the wagon. Relapse is a process of recoveryin some cases. Now you've explored those weak spots, put some defence in place.
All the best,
Scambling
Checking in on Day 81, almost 12 weeks. Time is flying. I'm going on holiday on August 16th, by then I will have over 100 days. Every milestone just makes me determined to get to the next one. BBQ is almost finished, but more wine left. Enjoy the rest of your weekend folks.
Hi All, checking in a bit late for me on what I believe is Day 50 for me ~ Yep, just checked my diary and today is Day 50 of being gamble free, abstaining by choice, one day at a time.
Been a very hectic week and very busy helping old friends whose lives have taken unexpected downward spirals, to taking in a recovering alcoholic whom had relapsed badly and was in a very bad way so we helped him through 3 days of detox! Not fun for him and hard work for us with much sleeplessness!! Another friends marriage hit a rocky spot and we had to console them for a few days too - so very emotional draining time but also no thoughts at all [or time] for any gambling, especially when feeling low myself, and spent a lot of time discussing various addictions with another addict [albeit another vice] helped to explain the illness that addiction is regardless of the nature of that addiction.
Just had tome to deep clean the house to prepare for a visit today from my 83 year old father over from Norway where he lives for a quick [and probably final] visit! Long reminiscences over lunch and afternoon drinks, before taking him back to the station. Not sure if I will see him again, but we say that every time he has visited in the past 10 years!!
So-emotionally drained, very tired and not had a lot of time to read or post in past 10 days but I will hopefully get back to a "normal" routine next week!
Good luck all other soldiers marching on this journey with Mr B be that a short journey so far or been here all the way!
As a group we are stronger!
Cheers all, Cliff
Checking in later than usual for this week. Been a really fast week and fortunately another gamble free week.
My main problem was betting in a bookmakers on horses and dogs. I would go in and lunchtime and stay till the bookies closed or I lost all my money. On the rare occasions I won and made it to closing time I would be back the next day and give it all back. The best two things I did to stop were to give my mum full control of my finances and to shut out any knowledge of horse racing by not reading newspapers and not going on racing websites.
Checking in with another week to add to the tally. Apologies for being absent from the forum this week but not in a great place emotionally and not sure how much help I could be.
Great post from Mother B. Not sure it helped my mood but, as someone who has not confessed and heard the words and feelings of my real life family, it was a meaningful insight into what my compulsive behaviour might mean to those around me.
Checking in on day 73 of trying to be a better person.
Affected by gambling?
