81 days clean...
Checking in.
Just seen a news article about a woman who is going to jail for gambling her parents life savings away.
I feel sorrow for people, and even more for those who don't realise how much gambling can affect someone's character.
Feeling better these days, but had a momentary wobble a few minutes ago when I was offered free tickets to the races for tomorrow, normally I'd have jumped at the chance.
Hi All,
New user to the forum and this is only my third post. I would like to join your 2014 challenge if that is okay?
I'm on my second day free of gambling. Feeling okay at the moment but have had a few temptations which I am trying to take steps to address.
Looking forward to the future with you all!!!
Big Man.
Evening everyone!!
Great to see so much activity on the forum already this week.......especially on what is typically our quietest day!!
Ok, so going to start off with reasons to celebrate!! First is as a result of Delboy's landmark - sorry mate, hadn't worked out that 9 months was upon you! That's the thing with leading the way!! Lol!! Outstanding result for the daddy of the group - 12th August really will be the glorious 12th eh? We'll need to meet up in Glasgow that night and shoot some Grouse!! Although given that's my competition I think it'll need to be JW Red Label instead!! In fact, for anyone that's up for it, Friday night August 15th, Glasgow.........Del's 1 year anniversary party??!! Del, you game??
Another cause for celebration.......not ideal that they find themselves here, but we are on the verge of welcoming 3 new team members to our growing group - ideal that they are here as part of a recovery journey. BigMan17, julio and Shortie777, I've left a message and a couple of asks for each of you on the very first page of this thread - key thing for each of you is that you re-post this week prior to Saturday midnight and that you're really clear you want to make the commitment to your recovery and to this team.
The front page is updated with all the check ins for is week and the amazing news is that if we get a decent retention rate this week and the new soldiers come through, we could be over 40 in the team come the update on Sunday!! It's all in our hands!!
Let's keep going everyone........I'm going to put a post on Recovery Diaries tonight just highlighting to everyone else on the forum that we're here........may not work, but could also help others who never come into the Overcoming Section. Every one of us and our ongoing to commitment to this team have created something really special.........it's worth broadcasting!!
Have a great night all,
Mr Brightside

Hi to all challengers
I am happy to join the challenge and I will do anything to repay the faith that my wife and family put on me
Gambling for over 10 years destroyed my life ,my soul and messed up with my head
just for that I am willing to give this fight all my best
Keep the good work and stay bet free
I am only on day two but this is my first attempt so I am very hopeful that this will work so see you Sunday 🙂 started a journal too it really is a good thing I highly recommend this tactic x
I wish you all so much luck, I have too thought of finding an easy escape but the pain it causes others is far too much to bear and they don't deserve that but believe me you really are going to get through this as we will be together fighting alongside each other in spirit so good luck and god bless x

Posting tonight to admit a slip. I'm sorry folks, I feel like a complete mug but managed to get suckered back in by a marketing email and ended up blowing a round thousand in just a few hours online. Stupid, stupid stupid.
I've heard people say before that they 'felt' their slip coming and with 20-20 hindsight I can honestly say I had no idea I was going to splurge. I knew I was in dangerous territory as the bank account was back to normal but I felt strong. I got an email from a site I thought I had closed to say I had money in my account. I reset my password, logged in and my balance was one penny. As soon as I logged in, it popped up a bonus; no strings attached. Sure. Put it no a horse that came fourth. Roll forward five hours and I'm working out how to hide it all again.
I know you will tell me to tell my other half and hand over the finances but I just can't. I have excluded from the site and I will try K9 again on my iPad. I need to find the will to beat this. So disappointed with myself. I thought I was past this. I'll post again tomorrow on day one.
Welcome back soldier NoCrisis
Not easy admitting a slip sometimes so good on you.
Glad your back here and getting back into the soldiering ranks again

Hello
My Names Mike and I have relapsed after a year of not gambling.
Today is my first day of stopping after a 4 month relapse! I really want to get my life back on track and am hoping that checking in here a few times a week and sharing my troubles with other gamblers will help me to achieve this!
I think it's great what your doing here! it's one day at a time for me I'll do everything I can to stop!!
Hey all

Good luck with it Mike. Day 16 for me. Going to be a tough weekend as my GF is back from holiday and I have accepted it's time to come clean about the last 7 months or so.
