Thanks to Mr B ( have a good jollie mate)

Thanks also to the 2 spotlighters ... I think we all can relate to most of their honest answers...

It's quite funny that while we are in our difficult, selfish gambling lives we feel very alone BUT reading the last 2 weeks spotlighters it's amazing how much we have in common we are all very similar in where we are wether it's pre or post gambling..

I had a difficult day yesterday with a few gambling/ fruit machine thoughts... But I beat it happily by thinking how much I would have been letting YOU all down.. I feel committed to stopping gambling and I can only succeed with the fellowship here

Thank you and have a brill week people (day 36)

Glads dad

Fantastic update as always Mr B! And thank you to the two soldiers in the spotlight, both very powerful stories and a great inspiration.

Checking in on day 60 I think. Have started to lose count on the days lol suppose it not a bad complaint to have 🙂

I had a tough weekend, had big fall out at home due to money problems and how my gambling effected them. Had be feeling low to start with and this made it worse but I resisted the urges and I'm still here (thank god)

I'm in much better mood today and got 1 the best emails ever this morning. I've been contacting bands non stop about performing at my charity event but all of them had been already booked for the date. But woke this morning to an email from a band to confirm they are free and would be delighted to perform. That news was better than any winner I've ever had and make it better they were in my top 3 of who I would like to get and they have agreed to perform for free donating there fee to the charge 🙂

Last week ended badly but this week started great and I'm still fighting this addition 1 day at a time 🙂

Evening everyone!!

So that's Monday been and gone.........one step closer to the weekend!! Great to see some soldiers coming back to us......maybe a bit bruised and battered, but still ready to fight the good fight.

Some other good news coming through as well - Ringerbell - not good to hear of the tough weekend, but a great start to the week!

Shorty - sadly there's many people like that in the world, but head high mate and know that you are the better person. Hope you're doing ok and a massive congratulations on the half century!

Hitthefan.........it's your day today soldier........the newest member of the Century Club - a great day for you and the team........100 days is a sensational number - next stop for you, 20 weeks, then 150......and onto the big half year!! Proud to be walking with you!!

So I was mooching about the forum and saw a post by molehole (Gambling Adverts and Abstinence) - love MH's posts so had a look........shocked!! So he talks about the latest advertising assault by the big red bookie - I hadn't seen it........but had to go and take a look. Maybe not the right thing to do, but my nose was bothering me. So the glamorous lifestyle of a gambler is portrayed through the eyes of 5 "types" of gambler.......the Professor, the Gut Taker.......etc. You get the picture. Unsurprisingly, Bradlokes forgot to include the "Compulsive Gambler"........you know, the one who spends everything they have and ruins their own life and the lives of family having spent everything they have within their shops...........however, one of this "famous five" is Mr Brightside!!! w*f??? I simply fail to see even the remotest of links between the name and the advert. Just in case anyone has seen it, I can assure there is absolutely no link between me and said operator..........plus I have absolutely no hair and can't dance to save my life!! Anyway, as Molehole says, just feels like they are taking the p1ss. Almost certainly a coincidence........but it does make you think!!

I'm checking in on 155 days..........and am well out of my cage.

Take care everyone.......and get checking in!!

Mr Brightside

I have a different take on that ad Mr B. For those of us in the know, Mr Brightside is the finest 'type of gambler'. One who is not only focused on his own recovery but who devotes much time and effort to the recovery of others. I haven't seen the offending poster as yet but it might be the only bookies' ad that makes me smile rather than grit my teeth and mutter.

Thanks for welcoming me back mr b. Feel embarrassed to be at the start again. Really do feel different though now that I have told someone else. Not having cash available is a little bit depressing but I am doing so much more with my time. Looking forwards to getting back on track. Thanks for all the hard work! X

Checking in on day 44, close to hitting that 50 day milestone that I haven't been able to do for years and years.

Don't miss the gambling one single bit, it's just such a blockade to moving up in life and doing worthwhile things. Never again will I succumb to the bad old days.

Keep the guard up gang,

Drew
