I thought I'd wait until I reached double figures before checking in 10 days so far. I'm currently filling in my time with the gym, online gaming (not gambling for a change) and getting out with the friends I've alienated in the past 2 years. For me the most amazing part of this is I was paid a week ago and the money is still in my bank minus a few quid for beers of course. I have had a few dicey moments but the though of having to admit failure here certainly helps. Thanks for running this challenge it really is helping me and to all involved stay strong. Daz (getting happier everyday)

Hey gang, Hope we are all doing well and fighting this addiction as well as we can.

Checking in on day 60, which has made me realise how rapid these passed 60 days have went, crazy quick!!

I have been doing really well up until now to be honest, no want for betting in weeks and i feel great about it!

However, i'm having serious urges about the Froch vs Groves fight on Saturday - I haven't placed a bet and hope to god i don't, but i'm very much looking forward to the fight, got a few boys coming around to watch it and it should be a great night and i know a few of them will have placed bets and i fear i will want to also. I 100% will try not to and just let these urges pass, but i feel it will be a hard test for me in my recovery.

For myself, my partner, my family , my friends and the great squad we have here i will not gamble on the boxing this weekend!!! I need to keep saying that and adhere to it... I wont let you down guys and girls, but id be lying if i said i wasn't tempted!

All the best,

Drew

Hey drew

i'm tempted by many bets during the week and the boxing is no different especially since froch probably got it sorted

what i have to ask myself is even if i did bet on it

would it make a difference?

Im having trouble with the boxing too.

Im Day 3. I had looked at the odds before Day 1 so they are still playing with my mind.

Only brought 5e into work today. Need to continue that.

My favourite boxer ever is Carl Froch and I have got a bet in my head that I feel is a certainty and I'm pretty tempted to get stuck in to it. I could put a big bet on it and clear my debts! However I know what that bet will bring. If I won big I would be up at the *** of dawn on Sunday picking out horses and by Sunday night I would be skint. So for me it's not worth the bet and I'm going to enjoy the fight and cheer on Froch to victory. Us gamblers are all pretty similar so my advice would be to stay strong, get the beers in, enjoy a good fight and keep away from the bookies.

Hi everyone, checkin in for another week of non-gambling, though I can really relate to the gambling issues surrounding the boxing at the week-end, when you have been a gambler for so long its so so hard as time goes on without a bet to .................... stay away from those thoughts. However the fight continues ........... good luck everyone.

Hello everyone

Mr Brightside I have changed my name to Mike18 formally Mikesaf sorry had to do that hope that's ok

Checking in today Is Day 15 feels great to have money in my bank and pay day Tomo!

I must not get carried away though as it was having spare money in my account which got me back on the gambling after over 1 year of quitting!!

I found that I had a bit of spare cash around me, all my debts were paid off and me being a compulsive gambler thought that a quick social bet would be ok, 3 / 4 months later I'm over 3k down and back to square 1.

So with that said I just want to remind myself that it only takes that 1 bet to trigger it all off again I will not do it I keep reminding myself what a horrible place gambling puts me in and at the moment in a great place

Good luck every1

Thank you everyone on the boxing advice and help, i honestly feel a lot more positive about not betting now - I love how this thread can change urges by simply talking to each other.

Bornagain, your words particularly hit home (possibly because i'm a massive Froch fan too, haha) I will get the beers in like you advise, safe in the knowledge ill be cheering on someone i want to win rather than cheering on a bet!

Triangle, you are absolutely right mate, would it make a difference if i had a bet? I'm going to enjoy the boxing for what it is, a fight between two men who hate each other and the worry of Am i going to win? Please get knockdown in 10th? Whatever... Will not be present on Saturday.

Stay strong Stephen, the boxing will be excellent regardless of having money on it or not, lets just enjoy the night. After a few comments here i feel a lot better about not putting a bet down! I would probably lose anyway tbh, so its a waste of my hard earned cash! Good luck nevertheless though mate!

Stay focused troops and lets all do what i hope Froch will do on Saturday and do not let that guard down,

Drew

Phil checking in day 164! Fabulous to see you back Linda, Didn't feel right to do my first update ever on here and not have you on the list. You will be reinstated this week.

I hope this weeks going to be a 100% check in. Its nearly the end of May so to have so many people still here is a huge achievement and everybody has done so well.

Hi everyone,

Checking in on day 60 if I have counted right 🙂

Sorry for not checking in last week,

But was to busy working.

Is long (14h) hard shifts here in Netherlands 6 days a week and in the evening I'm just to shattered what means shower, tea and then bed for me.

But I'm fine and when this job here is finished, what should be in the middle of October then I should have earned enough to pay of for the wedding :)) and this is good.

Will try to read through all your posts in the next days and hope that you are all well

All the best to everyone for now

Love and respect

Wolfgang
