Checking in on day 85, no urges at minute but on my guard in case they return.

Will pop in and welcome new members this week, let's all beat this awful addiction together.

Today is a good day, today is a gamble free day.

Day 5. Early stages but its a start. i will get to 100 that is my initial goal. Just dissapointed with myself, things are good at the moment apart from work but hey ho. The longest i have ever abstained from gambling was in 2013 when i did between 115-125 days without playing a fobt machine. i will do that again and more. 5 days gamble free.

Evening all.

Really liking the team effort we have going on and people offering their support to other members, both new or old will help us all get through. Feeling strength in numbers now 🙂 thank you to all who've said they'll try to welcome any new members too.

Well done Gerry8 on two weeks ... Those early days and weeks are really difficult and every day that goes by you're one more day away from your last bet. We all know that the urges can and do strike, sometimes when we least expect it. But, I do know one thing, the urges do decrease and generally you become happier with life and yourself the further away you get from your last bet !

Counting the days together really helps and I know several members who are supporting each other with daily posts on diarys etc. This can be a great way to success.

I look at where SonicBoom is at now (200 days) and I know we were once both at the same days. I really wish I was where he is now, but in May I had my week or so back gambling online and reset my counter. However I'm now half way towards that previous 120 day personal best and I think with having a more active role in this challenge it will give me even more determination to succeed. I wouldn't want to reset that counter again ,.. Far happier watching that day counter roll and counting the £'s in the bank !

Keep going GT and Emily82 - you're both way down the recovery path having been on this journey for a while now, and happy you're both on two days now.. Looking forward to seeing your days mount up as I'm sure they most definitely will. 171 days left on this challenge and that's still time to rack up a great day count for the 2015 challenge.

Glad troops are happy with my update and looking forward to continuing this team effort to help each other see through the rest of this challenge over the next 24 weeks !

Have a great gamble free sunny week... Schools are out this week and I'm sure many of you may be going on holidays ... Keep clear of those arcades !!!

Ps

No Problem I notice your personal best is very similar to mine. I'd like to see you exceed this as it would represent a huge milestone for you like it would me. Rooting for you to get there !

No Problem, how was your £££ after 120 odd days? Did you notice a difference.

Hoping to get there myself. My best is 70 days and I bottled it. I won't this time!!!

No problem - just try and focus on short term goals as well as long term goal, remember each day is a success, do not feel low about being on day 6, we all start somewhere.

6 days is great, keep it up and a week tomorrow, treat yourself to a little present, it is important to celebrate successes not focus solely on more days gamble free. Our minds are geared up for the odd success, so follow the same path but gamble free.

Good.luck

Hi dazz, yes i noticed a difference, not just in financial terms but generally wasnt thinking about it as much, it does you great but you cannot gamble on anything, even if you are like me a afobt addict, i cannot then go and have a football bet, because at some point you will cave in and go back to it.

DAY 7, ONE WEEK GAMBLE FREE FOR ME TODAY. Hard work but i will reap the benefits.

Day 2 and admitted to OH exactly how much debt I have accumulated (£45000). I feel sick thinking about it but he is very supportive. Just sad that 150 days ago I thought I would never gamble again when debt was at £28k. I'm not a stupid person so why am I drawn to throw money away. Anyway, I know I will end up alone and broke if I break his trust again and I don't want to have a feeling of self-loathing all for a quick buzz of getting a feature on the slots. Looking forward to day 3 GF x

Hi Tomgrogan95, welcome to the 2015 challenge, it sounds like you've made a good start on identifying the reasons you gamble and also in telling your dad have taken a big step today in the right direction. You can do this one day at a time, good luck and keep posting, ps you wanted to know other reasons for gambling, mine was always escapism.
