3 WEEKS TODAY. weeks since i last set foot in a bookies and played a fobt machine. Always the one area i have a problem with, footy i can do for fun, horses for fun, never more than a few quid for a bit of interest, but fobt machines, no, never just a few quid for fun. i consider my gambling problem to be with fobt machines only. I am addicted them, but i am now at the 3 point mark since i last played one and it is a good feeling.

Checking in. Last day of July means 7 months of the challenge. Time just flys. Soon be Christmas!!!!!
Morning Troops.
Just a short post to let you know I'm back from holidays. I want to thank Mark (Sonic Boom) for doing the excellent update last week and celebrating milestones throughout the week. Fantastic job and some great milestones achieved. I shall do the days count on Sunday and we can see where everyone's at this week. Great to see some 'missing' troops have re- joined us this week and nice to see you're still on track just holidays etc sometimes understandably mean missed check ins.
Lots of troops racking up a significant number of days now, and with five months left we still have a great number of people in the challenge. Some soldiers are finding things tough at the moment with relapses but please keep checking in and staying honest with yourselves and us. It matters not how many days you have, but your comittment and attitude to quitting is the most important tool you can ever have in this battle.

Checking in on day 143...... football season starting soon which is a big worry fo me and will be a big test
Welcome back Clare and I hope you had a well deserved holiday. Checking in today on to report 595 gamble free days. I had a significant morning today as I met up with a mortgage advisor to dicuss a house purchase in the very near future. This would have 100% never, never happened if I was still gambling. I rushed home after the meeting to tell my wife the good news that finally my previous failings of putting my family in financial difficulties due to my gambling addiction is slowly, but surely improving. I have a light at the end of the tunnel now and a much brighter future to look forward to for myself, wife and children, now that I no longer gamble.
I will as ever, remain on guard to prevent any stupidity.
Have great weekend if possible folks.
Mike
Hi Claire,
Pleased to read you are back safe and sound,
Suzanne xx
PS that's really fantastic news happy days, I really am pleased for you.

Happy 595 days Mike and excellent news about your forthcoming house purchase and good news with the mortgage application.
My family holiday must've cost me well over £1000 but not a single bit of debt incurred and through 2015 I reckon I've paid off around £1200 debt. Loan now stands at around £9000 and I'll be paying it off for several years yet but what a difference stopping gambling had made to my life and finances.
It's what keeps us going... Long term financial improvements allowing us to make plans that impact on our lives for the better. One day I hope I can afford a mortgage too, once all my gambling debt is gone. All the more reason to stay stopped, can't ever go back to slots and plunging further and further into debt. 2015 is the start of turning my life around and this challenge is helping me keep this long term comittment.
Clare
Checking in early, as it's now Saturday. Got some things to do this afternoon, but no plans to gamble. Good luck with your gamble free weekend.
