Hi, I'd like to join the challenge. With me quitting gambling about 30 mins ago, I'd like it to last a lifetime. I litterally just lost £3,400 in about 2 hours of losing on online slots/blackjack. I never thought it'd get to that stage of my life, I don't know what's wrong with me. None of my family gamble and none of my close friends have gambled and lost as much as me.

I remember the time when I was 18 i started going to the casino and walking out with £35 with a big grin on my face, then it went up to £100, £150, £200 etc. Then this one time I was in there playing blackjack and I asked the dealer what does Top 3 mean and he said 'It's a win if you get a 3 of a kind, Straight flush or 3 of a kind suited' so i thought oh I'll put £15 on it, but the max bet was £10. So I stuck that on it. Who knew that £10 would ruin my life.

The dealer pulled out the 10 of clubs, then he got the queen of clubs and he said 'if you get the jack of clubs now, you've won', so he pulled out the jack of clubs. There it was, including my bet and my other side bets I won just under £3,000. It was the best moment of my life. Now, every time I bet/gamble I can't walk away without winning at least £1,500.

I must be so stupid. The bad thing is I have quit so many times and I start up again. I need help and I don't know what to do because honestly, I cant stick to anything.

Hi

Checking in on day 7 - feeling optimistic and glad to be gamble free for a week. I know that watching the days mount up will make me feel good as it means every week I don't gamble I'm getting slowly out of debt. Every time I do gamble, it results in more money going on my credit cards and ultimately it taking longer to get out of debt. Also, with two holidays this year to look forward to I need to save a bit to put towards spending money. I don't earn enough to waste any on gambling, so this time I must do it. I've been practising stopping since 2014 and to me, it's just getting a little embarrassing that I'm still trying to quit. However, I do really understand the addiction more than ever. I know what triggers me to gamble, I know how to avoid situations which will trigger gambling. I just need to keep my wits about me this time and avoid complacency creeping in further down the line.

Good to see lots of check ins this week and plenty of people getting up towards some good goals of one year or even three years gamble free. I want to join that club and I really feel like I've got the strength to do it.
