They say it takes 3 months to break a habit. So welcome to the 3 month, 92 day year end challenge.

I think goals and challenges are a great help. This goes for new comers to break that habit but also for seasoned gamcare members looking to keep themselves on the right track.

I myself am a bit of both, I'm on day one but have been here many times. I have an almost 2 year stint away from gambling so I know it can be done but I need reminding. I want to do this, to be honest for selfish reasons mainly. I need help and I'm a bit lost in where I'm heading but I feel diving into this website once more will keep me focused and I don't think I should ever step away, I do it time and again and I hopefully now finally realise I'll never be "cured" and that's no bad thing I can still stop gambling as we all can and we can all live our lives to the max but speaking for myself here I need to always have half an eye on this addiction and make sure it never enters my life again.

So onto what matters.

Running from 1st October to 31st December. The challenge to end the year strong and the right way.

To join just drop a comment below and check in just once a week, each week to remain on the roll call which I will do each Monday morning.

Open to all and open for entry even after the start date.

I wish everone the best, I hope this will keep a focus during what can be a stressful time, the winter blues, the Christmas madness - I love Christmas but it can be stressful that's for sure.

So sign up and let's end 2018 strong and set up for a cracking 2019.

Right the challenge starts. Surprised I'm on my own but not a problem and anyone wanting to join later still can.

Day 1. Looking forward to getting back on the right track and having the right positive mindset once again.

Ha ! I know exactly what you mean. Certain times of year it difficult to avoid some news, despite your best efforts (and I was an utter fiend for the horses).

Anyway- checking in.

Good luck to all past degenerates doing this challenge.

Hello

Please can I join?

I’ve just counted there are 77 days till Boxing Day !

This will be a 77 day challenge for me to stay gamble free until at least Boxing day. This will mark the fourth anniversary of when I joined Gamcare. I’m on day one and want to prove I can stay gamble free till after Christmas. Debts are climbing and need to put a stop to this ridiculous habit once and for all.

Happy to have you BDF. You know what needs to be done. Stick with it, you know that gambling offers nothing but misery. Stay strong and I'm sure you'll smash through Christmas and into 2019.

Thanks Anon0000

Feel like I’ve got what it takes to stay gamble free now till at least Boxing Day. Seem to keep doing a week or so then going back to it and blowing a fortune in one go. It’s an annoying recurring nightmare. Got mounting debt which will take years to clear and I know every time I blow another few hundred pounds it inevitably increases the long term debt. So sick of not being able to afford to do what I want financially. Need to get free from the gambling grip. Got to do it this time !

Sounds similar to me. It's horrible. What we have to try and remember is there are no shortcuts the only way to clear the debt is to stay away from gambling. If we could have stopped the first time we said we would the debt would've been long gone by now except we kept going back and topping that debt up and up. We'll that's my experience anyway. Its bloody hard to stay focused because even after you stop you still have the debt to deal with its still a nightmare even while gamble free but that's the way it is and the only way out of that nightmare is to stay strong, to not gamble and know by doing so the future will be brighter. Can't change th past but can change the future.
