Hi all,Â
My hubby has a Ltd company but just him working for it. He was advised by stepchange that because he’s self employed we have to go through business debtline to get support with his multiple debts including HMRC debt.Â
3 days he has been trying to get through. Cut off multiple times and on hold for hrs on end with no luck. It’s so frustrating.Â
we just need answers to be able to make a plan and try move forward.Â
we are hoping to get through this without using a debt management plan. Has anyone had success just negotiating with the card companies themselves to reduce interest? He’s not missed any payments but things are now getting tight and the interest he’s paying is half of the paymentÂ
Â
thanks very much for any adviceÂ
Hello MK,
Thanks for posting on the forum.
I can hear how important it is for you to be able to move forward and start sorting things out, so it sounds frustrating not being able to get hold of the Business Debtline. They do also offer a webchat facility if you’re still finding you can’t get through.
There’s some information on the StepChange website about negotiating lower payments and there’s also information on the National Debtline website about dealing with your creditors.
You’re welcome to have a chat about all this with our money guidance service – this is a confidential, impartial information service and although we can’t advise on debt, we can talk to you about your husband’s next steps.
I hope you’re able to get the information you both need to move forward and make a plan.
All the best,
Claire
