Hi guys,

My first post on here, just looking for some advice, I've been gambling for 10 years and not missed a day gambling for them all 10 years lost 1000s along the way,

I'm on day 6 of being GF, the biggest day for me will be tomorrow, I bet massively on football accumulators on the weekend football as well as being a part of group with my friends that place a bet everyweekend when we meet up to watch our local team play football,

You know how it is, 7am start on away days, breakfast beers and bets, I'm actually terrified about tell them tomorrow that I won't be taking part as they don't know the seriousness of my addiction and will probably banter about it, which scares me and a part of me thinks oh 1 day won't hurt.

Any advice

Thanks

Hibby

For starters you need to get rid of your labels.

I am a gambling addict I can't do anything else.  You are here aren't you? Six days clean so you know that you can abstain.

All those tools is a proof that you can handle it. Now you need to decide that you want to. It is all down to decisions. Self confidence comes with time and work.

No one will save you or say any magic words that will get you out of it. It is completely up to you.

You can do it! You have already proven to yourself that you can

Best

Hi and welcome to the forum

You will get the tried and trusted advice here for a proper recovery

Crucially you are going to find out who your real friends are so the big question is are you ready for how deep this goes. Are you ready to find that out and face the truth?

You will need a born again moment and need to be very clear about an addiction which destroys people. The truth is that nothing is awkward compared with the power of this addiction

The truth is that addicts are comfortable together just like smoking groups or drinkers. They won't like you breaking away as it holds a mirror up to their own actions .

You know the damage gambling has done so any real friends are going to try and understand that. Any fair weather friends will carry on and run you down as a threat to their mindset

You need to stop gambling.I promise you life is better gamble free and certainly if you have been controlled by an addiction.

You need support and to reach out for all the help you can get. I know the feeling of thousands thrown away. I didn't feel anybody was there for me then

You have some big questions to ask yourself. A real friend is just glad to see you

Problem gambling is drug addiction Gambling is a vice!

You gave your dignity and self respect to the gambling dens a long time ago.....time to get it back!

Best wishes from everyone on the forum.
