Hi All,

I posted on here towards end of last year as I had a relapse after not gambling for around 9 months. Can’t explain why I had an urge I couldn’t ignore buts what’s done is done.

Unfortunately I’ve had a bad couple of weeks and I’ve lost about £1500. I’ve feel like I’ve hit rock bottom and feel disgusted. I registered with Gamstop Online for last few years, however online hasn’t been my problem of late, it’s going into physical betting shops. What I’ve done this time that I didn’t do last time is registered with the MOSES scheme today. Do people find this helped them?

My other issue is I got nearly £35k of debt from this addiction over the last few years. I’ve got loans paying this off but won’t be finished for 7 years.

Just feel so low and can’t believe I’ve been so stupid. I can’t confide in my family as they will disown me. I feel like I got myself into this mess so I need to get myself out of it.

Thank you al for taking the time to read this.

Hi Andrew

Thank you for sharing and opening up. It's a safe space to do that but still must be daunting as you are opening up to yourself as well

I stopped going to bookies about 12 years ago and have never gone back. I also put Moses in place in November just in case to cover all bases. I couldn't stand the thought of being turfed out in front of everyone especially as compulsive gamblers in denial in the shop would be sniggering. They would also just say you are banned and not why. It should help you but of course don't put temptation your way. Walk on the other side of the street and don't look in. Are you still looking at horse results ?

Thanks for your reply Stuart, it’s nice just know you’re not alone sometimes. I’ve excluded all bookies in my local area and within a 20 mile radius just for belt and braces approach.

For me my issues have been only football that I’ve betted on, and I still find I look at fixtures and results and odds thinking if only I had put a bet on. Also my other issue has been FOBT’s especially roulette, this has been lethal.

Hi Andrew

I used to be on football but that wasn't my problem. Ive found now that I have my love of football back. Rather than switching off when a result was losing, I love watching football. I think in time you will stop thinking about the betting side, just don't write anything down about what you would have done

Yes FOBTs are lethal and the crack C*****e of gambling no different to online slots.

Try and come on the chatrooms at 8pm. It's text only so no cameras
