Hey

Well i am now at 34 days GF. i am gonna waffle on as it helps me.

This will be a testing month, My Mum has only a few days to live 🙁 so i have to be mentally strong and not slip in into bad habits. My wife has been rock since i came clean in January so we will keep busy and carry on our routine the best we can.

I would like to tell others who are struggling what i have put in place to help me.

Gamcare website to block all online access to betting.

MOSES to self exclude from all betting shops where i live and work.

NHS gambling. i reached out to these last week and have therapy consultation this week.

Using the TOM system. Time - opportunity - Money, I have handed all finances over to my wife, I spend my free time if alone doing things i enjoy like golf, reading ETC, I dont have opportunity any more as i dont have spare cash to do it. These are really important to me and it has so far worked so well and i will ensure it stays this way.

Now this is something i thought i would never do, Gamblers Anonymous, i reached out to them in January and go once a week and this has been my biggest help speaking to fellow people, sharing my story. hearing other peoples struggles really hammers it home to me.

There is help out there, but you have to want to do it, yes its bloody hard and a long road still for me to go.

Darren

So sorry about your mom and thanks so much for your positive post that tells it as it is and gives ways to help ourselves you have certainly made a huge difference to me today as I was slipping down the slope of self pity and closing down and disconnecting from people. Thanks
