Evening diary,

Been a very emotional 24hrs blue came to us yesterday tea time, and his condition is one of a very badly treated dog, very underweight, coat in terrible condition, many battle scars and a look way past his three yrs.

Hovis welcomed him with great gusto, they have been bonding since very well.we fed him and gave him a free run of the house. We had a fractured night, bless he kept looking as if to say "ok when do I have to go outside??"as he spent the last two yrs there.

Today I walked them, run them, loved to see him a happy dog.then I bathed him, o*g how can folk have been so cruel, it broke me a bit, I sobbed and we made some promises, i/ we will fix him and give him the life he deserves, hovis and him are the only good thing to come from my gambling life, something as an ex racing punter I will never forget, they will get all they ever want that's a promise I will not be breaking.and most of all all our unconditional love.

Today I am humbled by the harsh world we live in, but like me we will together put our past behind us and look forward.so I type this post, tears running freely down my face, sat on our couch, blue snuggled up one side, hovis the other.

Docs today, I have gout, which is causing the joint pain outbreak

I will read all the info I was given later, and I have to go for an ultrasound on my liver next week, as the tests were massively to high, my previous life may have left a legacy, but rest assured it won't beat me.I simply have too much to live for.

Today I did not lay a bet to devestate what I have and will endevour to ensure my future footprint does no more damage.

Yo,

It's a good thing you are doing , I am not a dog person myself , but the happiness Hovis has brought you in ever present in your posts and I have no doubt that blue will do the same 🙂

I just wanted you to know my husband has gout and has had it for about 12 years . He takes meds for it , but on the whole it's under control , prob 3/4 times a year it gives him gip. He has to watch his diet though, can not see that being a problem for you .lol

Thought this information may be of interest to you .

Take care ,

Shiny xxxxxx

HI Duncs,

You post brough a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye but it also made me smile because I know for certain that blue will have a great life with you and your family, i suppose in a way he is starting a new phase in his life just like we are.

Glad to see the sofa is still big enough for all 3 of you and im sure hovis is so pleased to have a companion and a partner in crime.

It really is a good thing you have done, thats why I wanted to rescue a dog rather although i would of liked the andrex puppy it was the right thing to do.

My dad had gout and I know it can be very painful I hope you get it sorted soon.

Take care and hugs to blue and hovis

Evening diary,

Well been in on the early today, not that I am firing on all cylinders, full of this cold, even donned a pair of strides to cycle in. still wrapped up all day and hogged the stove trying to cook the b*stard out!!! Lol.

Docs phoned scan on the liver next week for me, hoping that this will put a handle on what is causing my problem's health wise.

Then home to be mobbed by two whippets!!! Wow what a difference two days of a good diet and exercise bring, one day at a time blue will look forward not back.

Sarah has along with our kids enjoyed this rapid change, in blue, so rewarding.

So hot bath and bed for me as couple of long days now at work, more turkey!! Lol.

Still won't be grumbling it will be spent wisely, muddy paws will be getting a chunk, the one place that won't be is the bookies, those odds, never worth it.

Little boy blue.....what a great story Duncs......I am so glad your new doggy has found a fantastic home with the right family...

Poor sweetheart thinking he had to go outside...shed a tear there myself for him..

Im glad too they are getting to the bottom of your health problems...(apple cider vinegar, celery and cherries are great for gout btw) xx

No wonder you have been in such pain.

My pal took a rescue greyhound....ex race dog from ireland...she said they have to tatoo their ears to show who owns them but when their racing life is done some of them get their ears cut off so the owners can't be traced....how sad is that!

Hovis and Blue will be great pals I am sure...just giving my doggy an extra squeeze hug with my legs as she is under them now whilst i type this post in bed..lol..hot water bottle.

hugs

R and D and thank you ssoooo much for just being you xxxxx

Morning Sir,

It seems that many of us have been dealt a bout of man flu recently. Not sure women quite understand it's severity!!!!!! As with anything though you just push through it and I am 100% sure I speak for everyone when I say I hope the scans next week show you are still young fit and healthy. Something that can be fixed nice and simply I hope!!

I will not come on here and pretend I love animals as I really don't but even I was moved by your post about the new addition to the family. I get so angry with people who are cruel or neglect them if you don't like them or can't look after them then don't have them it's very simple. Blue is clearly very lucky to have found a loving home and I'm sure he will give you great pleasure in the coming months.

Right, on with the day. Thanks for continuing to inspire me each day my friend.

Flagg

P.s Gamcare are looking into our get together for next year. I may well be coming with good news pre xmas!

Evening diary,

Beating the cold today, or the cold is beating the cold lol!! Found out a pitfall in working out in the middle of nowhere when the electric goes it will take some fixing!! I offered to ride and get some 50p's for the meter!! Lol, but we had to shut and lock up, hope it comes back on through the night the freezers are full of hard grafted xmas prep!!!

Still got home earlier than expected so enjoyed some time with the family and the dogs who are doing circuits as I type lol, another days progress with blue his top coat looking healthier and I can see a small amount of weight gain, so one day at a time.forwards never back.

Early start tomorrow, hope to get a gamcare catch up too.

Thankyou from deep within my heart, on the surface I may look a tattooed, shaven headed, sullen looking fella, but each day I soften inside, my heart strengthen's my resolve and respect for my addiction grows.

To abstain and maintain.

Evening diary

Rach, I once spent an evening with mr. winston many years ago, he stayed in our hotel in london whilst making nil by mouth, lol I refused to talk to him at first cos he was a "rocker"in the film which I lived by for many years quadraphina. I have a cigarette pack in the loft signed "duncs 4737 carling sir" from him, unfortunately these days I see him alot on tv advertising gambling, it distorts the memories a great deal.

Well the cold is all but gone, a bit chesty, reminds me of my smoking days lol.

Enjoying the darts tonight, out the corner of my eye, a game I adore.sports in general are so enjoyable these days for what they are, entertaining sport, not a chase of pipe dreams.

Power all back on at work, busy days work tomorrow.

And to boot payday today, yes ten months in, blocks in place, bills paid, thanks to a couple of very considerate people, enough money to have a wonderful family christmas, something I let my addiction to gambling steal far to many of.

Well no more, that stick is in my hand!!

No bet today, a choice to better my tomorrow.

Duncs stepping forwards never back

And our new addition, got a smart new coat, and I caught him smiling today, something worth more than any odds

Hey Duncs...

Dumped me trash and now normal service resumed...Quadrophenia.....wow ...Sting was in that too...guessing you had a mirrored lamberetta ,green parka with a dart board on the back?..lol

(ps...cant get over Eric Bristow and how much weight he has lost )

Jealous already of Rays memorabilia in your loft..I think he is s*x on legs but thinking of him in the film f***y and Elvis which was set in Hebden bridge ....

Am guessing from what you say he is doing a babs windsor...i dont watch much telly but its sad why people like that who have already made it in their career advertise for things that bring about much harm..surely they must have some choice in what they flog.

new coat for Blue....what a lovebug...me and dots all snugged too and becasue shes been so good this week with her G***o mother I am going to buy a chicken of her own and cook it up for her.,,,she loves keeping the watch sat by the oven while its cooking....

Id love another doggy but that is a long long way off as all my energy is going into keeping the one i have.

forwards....
