My first good night's sleep in a long time. I know it's early days but I feel stronger today then I did yesterday
After a long chat with family members and a lot of tears ive got their support in helping me beat this addiction. I know that everything I do and every penny I spend will be looked at and questioned. I've self-barred all my on-line gambling sites for their maximum 5yrs exclusion. And about to put a parental lock so to speak on my phone, so all betting (over 18's) sites will be unavailable.
This can only help. After looking at what ive been gambling away and how much extra funds will been now available to the household funds is frightening. I know this might sound like I think im cured. But i know im far from it this is just the next step in beating my demon. Ive never been one to try and write down (keep a diary) of what im thinking/feeling but it does help. Reading other people's diaries on here and hearing there Stories and Messages of Support im realising im not Alone and thank them and wish them well with their addictions.
Hi leon - well done on achieving your Day 2.
It really is amazing how after just a day or so you start to feel better and are able to see things more clearly.
It looks as if you are on the right path - best wishes for your journey.
Joanna
Hi Leon,
Welcome to the diaries....you're right, you're not alone. This long endless trek is one that we all take together, there's strength in numbers. Try not to look back at the numbers too much though, it's too late to change those now, you can only make the right choices going forward.
Revealing this to your family is a good positive step, you now know you have some people who have faith in you, and you won't want to let them down either. Getting the blocks in place is also a smart move. They won't always stop you from gambling altogether, but as I've found out they can often give you time to rethink any bad decisions you're about to make.
All the best mate,
Ryan
Hi leon,
Welcome and well done for posting. your first post seem's very postive and whilst your in this frame of mind get as many barrier's in place as you can.
Exclude from bookie's, casino's and consider handing your finances over. There all big step's to take, but the weight it lifts off your shoulder's is an incredible feeling.
I hope to see more of your post's and look forward to hearing about your recovery.
best wishes,
Scambling
