Hi, I’ve got lots of posts on here but thought best to start a recovery diary..

Day 6, I reset my counter following a slight relapse after Christmas. This time I’ve Gamstop in place as it’s online slots that are the downfall. I didn’t realise just how much you need support, especially those who understand (on here).

I’ve thought a lot over the last few days about how i’ll cope when I get paid on the 20th - as I blew any spending money I had last payday... the test will come then. I plan to take all available monies out of the bank that day so I can visually see it. Sounds bonkers but when it’s ‘actual’ money it seems different. When ever I went to the races, I only bet a fiver here and there, as I physically see the money handed over, when it’s online it seems like it’s not real - anyway, I’ll keep you posted on how that goes.

i also posted on someone’s thread earlier, something i remembered from the days that really got me into this mess - some of you may relate to this:

Some days I locked myself in the bathroom to just look through the pages and pages (and I mean pages!) of bank staements and credit card statements that I had, with my eyes glazed over reading them in disbelief of what I was doing and the ridiculous deposits I was making with not much winning back ... it’s absolutley crazy! ....

Thank god im not in that place anymore (not the bathroom anyway 🙂 but I wonder how many are?

Well done everyone who’s stayed gf ...

kaz xx

Day 7 - although it’s only lunchtime, I would have probably had a little spin, but instead I had a good sort of clothes, put a load of bits on eBay 🙂 even if I get £10 back, it’s £10 that I’ve not gambled! I’m Patting myself on the back ... happy weekend people! Kaz xxx

Hi Kaz,

Pay day isn’t so bad. I’ve just gone though it and am doing well. Decided to go to the cinema tonight to watch Cold Pursuit as a treat for 22 days past 🙂

You can do it.

Good work Kaz. You are doing great.

Good idea about making the money instead of wasting the money on a few quick spins. I think for me the key is to treat yourself to something for achieving small milestones. We work hard, so why not spoil ourselves with little treats. Mine was the cinema to go and watch a film 🙂

Hi Kaz
Thanks for the post on my diary. Sounds like you are doing really well. I think you are right to give yourself little treats along the way. Celebrate all the milestones it's really important to stay positive. Perhaps take up a new hobby or re discover old ones. Fill your time. U can do it and life is so much better without gambling. Come to the chat room and spend time with others who can support and who understand.
Stay strong
Stux

Kaz,

No problem at all. It is lovely to share your journey and help you regain focus.
The world deals us challenges and this is another chapter in your life that is now complete.
Keep up the good work and you can beat this.
We will beat it as a community.

Thanks honey x key for me is never to be complacent again, understating the beast and knowing how to keep it at bay 🙂

Day 10 - early today but I know I will not gamble. Back to work tomorrow so will make the most of my last day off. I’m out to an event at a gallery later, so I will be well and truly occupied! Have a great day xxx kaz
