Wow how did my boys at Liverpool lose to Swansea!! Nothing to do with gambling or "vacuous" but what a result. Just wanted to get that off my chest! No snotty responses please Phil.
You'll be asking yourself the same thing next week when the gold and black army roll into town lol
Today was mega-stressful. I work from home and I have these issues with Microsoft Office which I tried to sort but couldn't so put some information on a memory stick and went to the library as I had booked a computer - stick in the memory stick and it says there is nothing on it. My deadline is 10am Thursday so I am going to have to start from scratch with this article. Fortunately I have all the background information. This is a gambling related post because despite all the hassle and BS I didn't even think of betting. A while back, I believe I used horse betting as a distraction from my "other" issues but not today - It was a lot different a year ago - any excuse to gamble. I still feel uncomfortable using the specific acronym and people who read my diary (1, 2,5 people, whatever! know why) but my God I'm glad something is changing in my head. So heavy load of work tomorrow but a bet-free day. All the best, Phil
Just been reading some interesting posts. Fortunately I didn't get into as much debt as I could have although I still had to set up a debt management plan. I was thinking (insignificant maybe) how often did I win on the horses? 5 per cent of the time? 2 per cent of the time? Money is not the issue for me now but it was just something that popped into my head. Phil
Hi, Phil,
I'm not convinced that anyone ever "won". Some money was returned sometimes on a temporary basis, maybe.

I agree. Should have put win in speech marks ""!

Hello Phil,
I'm sometimes active on this forum, sometimes I dissappear completely and sometimes I just browse through. A little irrelevant but now coming to my point regarding this post.
This is your diary, there your rules. Writing can be very cathartic, especially when your purely downloading your thoughts and having an internal dialogue with yourself. So my long winded point is, don't feel uncomfortable about using specific acronyms! Some people posting are more direct than others and possibly come across as rude, but hai Ho that's the rhythm of this gc society.
There's probably more people than you realise who reads your diary, some ( like me ) willing you on in tackling this malarkey and tackling any others of ' life's issues '
Keep well
Great post volcano. Thanks. Phil
Again thanks V. In life, just like on a forum like this, there are always people who think they know better than (guilty as charged Your Honour) you but all I can say I'm working this out my way with help, listening and learning and ODAAT (phew, I said it!). Today was bet-free, doing my best, and tomorrow is another day. Have a good evening. Phil.
Wow. I wanted to find out today when my self-exclusion was up so I could extend it from Bill and Laddy and most of the shops in my area had no record of my self-exclusion....seriously. So basically I'm saying within a mile of my house in quite a built up area there were eight shops I thought I was self-excluded from and I wasn't. Now, my point is this: I go into the city centre and pass by shops I HAVEN'T self-excluded from and if I had know in my vicinity I had known I WASN'T self-excluded I would NOT have gambled because of my attitude etc. but what has P-issed me off is the fact that those bookies didn't do what they are supposed to do. Comments please? Nothing snotty please because it isn't about betting it is about the responsibilty the industry is supposed/alleged to make when you self-exclude. I'm fine - no temptation but I'm very annoyed. Thanks, Phil.
Sorry to bump this but I'd be really appreciative of any comments or advice.
Hi Phil. A few year's back now maybe 10. When I was in the slot house's, self exclusion meant taking in a photo and Id etc. For those who self excluded their pictures where put in the staff private rooms. That was effective because there was only maybe 20 photo's. Obviously slot houses are more personal like a casino. You get to know the customers and so on. Where as bookmakers now there is one every other shop in most high streets. Also with varying amounts of staff each day, shift whatever. What I'm saying is for it to be effective it neon impossible due to the explosion in foot trade.
Also unless you went in on foot to self exclude. It's highly likely that because the system for self exclusion on line is fairly new. They have a mass backlog.
And I would assume that the sneaky gits at hq don't send them to the shops in mention. It's most likely kept on a database and that's all they do with it
Hi Deano. Thanks for responding. All shops are supposed to have a book with the photo-copied form with your photo attached in a folder and they are supposed to look at it each morning to familiarise themselves whether those people were regulars or not. My mate who is a shop manager told me this. You are right though about sneakiness - there are two Billy shops within about half a mile of each other where I live - I'm self-excluded from one but not the other when I KNOW I self-excluded from both! It's not an issue about temptation - it's more an irritation than anything else.
No doubt it would magically appear. If say you went in and won anything of significance?
Personally I would ring the helpline and do them again. Then maybe check in a month. Failing that I would ask to speak to the manager of the self exclusion line.
Top work on your day count phil
I'm just getting my chair warm for kick off against your boy's
Have a great one
Cheers Deano. Enjoy the game.....
