Happy Wednesday. Hope it's been kind. Your post made me smile.
Thank you for the posts on my diary.
Little Miss you are really setting a great example. Many moons since you last gambled and you are steadily getting further away from that last bet. A very stylish and dignified recovery.
Lulubobs showing great determination and resolve. We are at a critical point in our recovery as the addiction is reluctant to let go. Every day will only last 24 hours and that's what we need to focus on. We have to reach higher and keep striding forward. We must have faith in ourselves and unleash the power that is inside us. I believe we have great inner strength if only we can connect to it.
DeterminedDan back amongst us and full of good intentions. You have a lot of wisdom my friend, the support you give fellow travellers is priceless and you have a genuine desire to stop gambling. I sincerely hope you can find the peace, contentment and happiness which your heart craves for.
Wilsy you are a loving, compassionate soul who just wants everybody to get along and be happy. Sometimes life can seem cruel and unforgiving but that is the way of the world. I think the words of the poem Desiderata are quite meaningful and I frequently say the opening line to myself - "Go placidly amid the noise and haste." Glad your enjoying life in the century club. It's good to see you going forward with courage, determination and renewed optimism.
Sandra so pleased you have posted on your diary. You have had a skirmish with the addiction and been left saddened and bruised but you are back, which is a great relief. You are loved and respected by many of us who will be wishing you well. Take care my friend.
Annie Well done on your continued good progress. By following your example my goal is to get fitter. I enjoyed 30 minutes in the gym today which was a fun and followed it with a swim. Exercise definitely lifts my spirits and makes me feel more alive.
Hello Diary. Not overjoyed because I have toothache but I have an emergency appointment tomorrow morning. I want the tooth out because last time I had toothache the dentist ssid he thought it would be alright and left it, four days later I was in agony with a face the size of a balloon. I really don't like to feel pain.
Wishing everyone a happy thursday. Peaceful, contented and gamble free.
Hi Stephen good luck at the dentist, not my favourite place either! Been listening to James Bay lately. You might like him. Have a rest if they take the tooth.
Thank you Merry Go Round. James Bay is excellent. Good music and meaningful lyrics.
Had my tooth out yesterday which was ok. The dentist kept it so I have nothing to put under my pillow. The receptionist had spIits/tears in her jeans which seemed very unprofessional. I couldn't help thinking of you and your sewing machine.
Take care and keep smiling.
Ha ha! I always think they must be cold! Brightest sunny morning here, I think snow is coming! Take care, keep warm!
Lol Stephen! Tou have great sense of humour! Talking about dress code...i hate "suits" but needs must and as you say, you must look professional in services organisations!
I was very VERY pleased to kick off smart shoes, and get out of uncomfortable clothing yesterday when got back home! Back into jogging bottoms & trainers for a weekend :-)...bliss & nobody to impress
Thank you for your ongoing support and well done on your ongoing journey to better future! Be proud
X
Hi Stephen sorry to hear you've had tother troubles. Nearly at 20 days brilliant !! Take it easy and hope you enjoy a peaceful weekend Sx
Hi Stephen, thanks for your kind words about me, really touched my heart and I will hold onto them tight and never forget my values.
Good luck with the dentist, I really need to go I've hardly any teeth left! haha
Wilsy
Thank you Merry Go Round, Sandra, Sharon and Wilsy.
I have just been thinking about responsibily and standing up for our values.
What is right and what is wrong are not always strikingly obvious. On this day in 1909 the Suffragettes attempted to break into the Houses of Parliament. To some they were heroines and others viewed them with disdain but they were doing what they believed was right and just.
I believe we must shoulder responsibility for our own actions. We are constantly faced with the moral dilemma of choosing the right path and standing up for ourselves.
I am a compulsive gambler and whatever I might say to the contrary I do get enormous pleasure from going on the fobt machines with a fist full of money. It always ends in sadness though and involves me being without money, miserable and tormented, until the next time.
I know I am a compulsive gambler but I also know right from wrong. Am I prepared to wear my heart on my sleeve. To have the courage of my convictions. Or will I just crawl on my belly to the bookmakers. It's my choice, a choice I must make every day.
Wishing everyone peace and contentment and a gamble free weekend.
Hi Stephen a few things struck a chord with me what you’ve just said, accepting responsibility especially I believe I’ve come this far this time because I had a good talking to myself to say that at end of the day I was ‘choosing’ to gamble, yes the addiction is very very strong but it was still my choice. I knew I couldn’t do it on my own or without blocks so chose to put that in place hence have stopped. I accepted the responsibility of my actions for once. It really is wrong of me to waste so much money for example when my husband is going out working hard to earn the money for us for a decent future. I also used to gamble again thinking that one big win I could help my husband out instead of just taking all the while. There are so so many hurdles to overcome cg but that’s when the blocks come in so we don’t get bombarded mentally and emotionally with all the ‘reasons’ to gamble. Your post is so good and has made me really think! Thanks Stephen. Also you said how you loved the FOBTs me too with online slots I admit I loved it but then the consequences had to be dealt with and the S****y feelings. Wishing you a peaceful gamble free weekend too! X
