Morning routines

One of my favourite films of all time. So apt for this subject on the start of a new week let alone a reminder of the great people in life who suffer behind closed doors. Robin Williams is such a great loss.

Six months ago my daily routine was routine chaos. Everything slotted in around gambling which always came first. I would get up and gamble on slots from the moment my eyes were open. If I won it felt like a good day and if I lost it would be a bad one. Basically I would be gambling my own day before it started.

I'm sure my morning routine is similar now to many others in recovery but would love to hear what others look like.

Starts with guided meditation either from the Evive app or YouTube. Then I say the serenity prayer alongside a steps prayer. The I write a gratitude list of ten things I am grateful for and send to my sponsor. That's followed by being fully present and getting my son ready for school and daughter for university. Drive my partner to work and get back home for a walk. I can honestly say it's a perfect start to each day. No drama, no chaos, no panic. Yes there are tests that come up in life but to be able to tackle them and not escape is such a gift for me and one I never want to lose.
