Day 33: no gambling today.
Mr.P
fella fantastic to see your focused on living gamble free, amazing to see how focused we become regarding debt management, as when in action we don't have any rational thinking, the mindset seems to be we resign ourselves to the fact that however much it grows who cares, so long as we feed the punt.
Rational thinking, another gift we give ourselves, seems abstinence knows no bounds in it's generosity!!!
The polar opposite to our gambling life.
Keep up the great work, a wonderful xmas present.
Duncs stepping forward never back.

I have just read that Tesco are offering a credit card with a 0% rate for purchases and/or balance transfers for twelve months - importantly there is NO balance transfer fee. This is significant and I hope to make use of this great offer.

I am looking forward to reaching fifty days without gambling. The more days I can put between my last gambling illness and normality the better. I need to stay strong this week as I am aware that Royal Ascot is taking place. It is a great spectacle, but I am not going to get involved. This time two years ago, I had my worst ever gambling loss: £6,000 in one afternoon. Not to be repeated. I get paid at the end of this week and I need to ensure that I stay in control and concentrate on my debts. I am hopeful that I will be able to stop using my NatWest overdraft soon, which is especially important as they are going to start charging a fee from next month (on top of interest).
Pellekanin,
i have bet on everything for years but have had a particular soft spot for the horses, so like yourself find it weird this week with Royal Ascot on. I am 26 days gamble free and you are doing extremely well on your 40 odd, be strong and keep up the great work ....it is worth it.

6k in one afternoon. That's a not insignificant amount of money. I'm not even sure how you managed to spend all that in one shop - don't they have an upper limit?
Nice to you're back on the rails.Discipline, patience and selectivity are foreign concepts to us CGs - we can stand it for a while but then the red mist descends.
I'm away for a few weeks but will be back. It'll be a good opportunity to put some distance between myself and gambling. Keep in touch
I lost six thousand pounds gambling online during that dreadful afternoon; it would not have been possible in a shop. I maxed out my new credit card in a few hours placing reckless four figure bets on horse races that lasted only a couple of minutes. Value for money? No way. I remember being five thousand pounds down so placed my remaining thousand on a horse at 6/1 in an attempt to win it all back. It was in the lead until the last few strides and lost by a short head. I felt sick, physically and mentally. I cannot go back to the mess I was in then. I am still in debt and am fewer than fifty days gamble-free, but the longer I stay clean the better. My finances, health and mental state will all improve if I do not gamble. I cannot be a controlled, professional gambler because I am impatient, greedy and hate losing - a recipe for absolute disaster.
